The 2026 Free Agency Thread

Plus, Giants are still probably having nightmares over losing Barkley in free agency. They want that juice back at RB in a big way. Love doesn’t get past them, but most likely will be gone before them anyway. Giants grab Downs. That leaves Tate. I think AP knows this, so he is not going to cave to any large Jennings demands.
Losing Barkley to the rival Eagles and watching the Eagles ride him to the Super Bowl is an image Giants' fans will NEVER get out of their minds, trust me :clap2:

No, I think if Love is gone you have to go with Tate or Downs if they are available.
I'm playing but definitely Downs. I'm not high on Tate like some here about him. I'm not hip on drafting RBs in the top 10 but a TON of draft analyst are all about Love in the top 10 or higher.

From the Athletic...$14 mil/yr seems light. I thought I heard Nicki J. say they were looking for something over $20 mil/yr

21. Jauan Jennings, WR, 49ers (29)

Contract projection: 3 years, $42 million

Jennings is a big, physical receiver who can win through contact. He was a red zone weapon in 2025, finishing with seven touchdowns inside the 20, tied for the third-most in the NFL. Jennings is an asset as a blocker in the run game, the best blocking receiver in this free-agent class. Jennings plays with urgency and edge, and he is explosive in his releases off the line of scrimmage.

Not a huge fan of White. But the signing makes sense for 1y. This basically says, “if love is there, we take him”.

I differ in my opinion of Pierce with most on this board. I think he is much more than he’s been asked to do so far and his 30mil/y contract will look like a steal in a couple of years.

Yup, and why they traded away Pittman. They want to broaden Pierce's usage in the scheme.

Downs if the medical issues are reviewed by team doctors and given a green light seems like a generational player at safety.

With Cross already in the fold that would be a nice safety room after years of dealing from the bottom of the deck on guys that are fringe NFL players.

True, but we didn't give up anything for Burks. We acquired him for nothing so if he turns into even a #4 here in 2026 it is a big win for us.

Meanwhile Howie Roseman and Peters determined that Zaccheus wasn't at a level where they wanted to extend his contract so I am going off what these GMs have done in re Zaccheus the past couple of years.

The guy in Chicago thought the same way evidently.
We didn't give up anything for Zaccheus either, which is why I still don't get why he's supposed to be the worse player compared to someone who is allergic to full seasons of football. The whole point of this is that Zaccheus is the floor of what you should demand from a receiver. Constantly injured WRs are kept in the crawl space below the floor.

5'8 and 160?

The LA Rams have had excellent wide receivers and I can see how Atwell got lost in the wash and was able to make some plays for this team.

I don't know if he would have been effective here.

Burks injuries were not all that serious to his athleticism so I think Peters is of the belief that his upside is still there and you know he would not have been resigned last week if Blough didn't want to work with him.

Being able to play for more than of the games a season is a level athleticism in itself.

Its okay to have Burks on the roster. But he cannot be relied on to constantly be the second or third best WR. That's reserved for players who can play. Washington desperately needs someone who isn't McLauren that can be depended on to rise to the occasion. That person isn't Burks or Aiyuk, and shouldn't be expected of anyone else on the roster.

Jesus I’m 41 years old and you geezers are making me feel like a teen with this Beatles talk.

Nice change from feeling like a geezer when 30 year old players are called out for being on their death beds.

If we signed White because Peters, Quinn, and Blough wanted White - great.

If we signed him because Daniels wanted him - no bueno.

I feel even less comfortable with Aiyuk.

I doubt it was driven by Daniels. But I wouldn't worry about them pampering Jayden, is been closer to the opposite. Peters IMO has done less for Jayden then the typical GM has done for their young QBs. So heck actually doing something Jayden wants might be a refreshing change.

The trio of Burks/Luke/Lane combined for 37 total catches in 2025 guys. That’s less than Zaccheus who some here like to call a scrub accomplished on his own. We cannot cross our fingers and hope one of these guys is going to suddenly quadruple their production. We just can’t. If one of them emerges, that’s great. I’m not saying it’s impossible. But that can’t be the plan. The primary goal here is production, not ‘development’.

Losing teams bank on ‘development’. Winning teams assemble proven talent.

Fair enough, but winning teams also draft and develop players. Hopefully one or two of those young guys emerge.

I do agree we should add a proven vet or two. I see options to fill that need other than Jennings: Aiyuk, Deebo, and Allen.

Our WR situation should be better given improved health, development, and whatever new additions we end up with.
