The 2026 Free Agency Thread

Jags are amazing. They finally get some mojo going and then bad mouth their own #1 pick receiver and now they aren't going to trade him?

Boy, I bet he is one happy camper to be in FLA about now :LOL:
I like what they’re building down in Duvalll, but they should’ve kept Lloyd.

Mike Evans got 3 years 42M.

Jennings is going to get much more.

We should have fought the 49ers to get Evans, IMO.

Well there's one guy left. But will be a bidding war.

If we trade #71 and a 5th to move up to say #60 or so, there might be someone who can produce better than the group we trotted out last year.

I've actually been liking some of the WR supposedly available in the late 2nd more than the early 2nd.

I don't know if that's enough to get one...but we can't come out of this off-season with an aging Terry...and then somebody in the 5th round that's severely flawed, and another FA with an awful injury history.

This is a dangerous game though, continually trading draft resources because we can’t close FA deals for much-needed talent—or because our previous draft picks aren’t developing as we wished. You keep narrowing your options and resources when you do that, it’s not a viable longterm strategy. You want MORE bites at the apple, not less.

how about we trade the #71 pick this year and a mid pick next year to get Brian Thomas?

then we can go ahead and use the #7 overall pick on Downs, Love or one of the top 4-5 guys if they drop.

Jags seemingly don’t want to trade him, so seems like a closed avenue

The real question about that tweet is who is in the bidding war that they want to match Washington's price. I'm betting we're about to lose him to the Raiders.

lol and there it is, another INSPIRED SAN Fran free agent

Peters going after old San Fran players is like the Rivera regime drafting and signing Bama defensive players because they played well in college 😂

ETA: I wouldn’t mind Jennings but get us a TE for the love of GOD
Getting to the point where we need to send him back to Sanfran if he misses it so much.

Come on Adam..... we played games with Robby f'n Chosen as a starting WR, WTF are we doing?!?!

The tweet below is a bit over the top but it summarizes my beef with Peters as to Jayden. Maximize his contract, do what you can to help him be successful. The Pats from what I've heard get Doubs yet still want to trade for AJ Brown and in the mix for Okonwko.

He swung hard for Pierce and missed and I get that one. Missed out on Doubs, that one annoys me. But after that i am not accepting there is a price they aren't willing to pay for Okonkwo and a team like the Patriots of all teams signs him, too.

As I posted many times this off season, Jayden has to be thinking this is the worst spot of all the teams who took QBs in the 2024 draft. I want that narrative to change. And it still could. But I'll be pissed if they pivot from these two swings and misses to thinking small.

Evans at 33 wasn't interested in coming to a 5-12 team and quite frankly he wouldn't have been a good fit for our rebuild either.

And the really scary thing is the consistent drumbeat from Keim that they aren’t really desperate at TE, they won’t “overpay”. When TE is arguably even weaker than WR on this roster and is GAINING importance in this new heavy look offense.

I think WR is much more of an issue than TE. I think it's a code red whereas TE is code yellow. Bates and Sinnott at least block well.

What do we have at WR? A hopefully healthy Terry and then...special teamers?

We need 2 more WR compared to just 1 more TE.

Evidently Mike Vrabel doesn't have as much of an issue as Washington does spending in free agency.

Which is kind of strange to me considering he came from New England where Belichick only signed guys every once in awhile that had bigger contracts and focused on the draft and getting comp picks.

Yep, the Raiders are going to need some WR's too. They traded away their best WR to the Jags last year.

If Washington does make a move this will be the one IMO.

Peters likes him some ex-49ers :lift:

Jennings has been one of our top options since this thing all began, and it’s not because he’s an ex-49er

Umm, I think that it's both. I think that part of the reason we were interested from the beginning and he was linked to us is because of him being a 48er linked to AP

I do think Peters familiarity with Jennings has something to do with the interest.

But he does have good size and can play up to the #1 spot if McLaurin gets injured which some of the others as speed only receivers would not.

It’s not like that at all, they already went after Pierce and Doubs first (at likely higher dollar amounts) and whiffed, and are now also interested in Jennings. Not because he’s a 49er. It’s even less like the Alabama defender thing, there’s actually no correlation at all there, it’s just two unrelated things that you thought of.

Not every errant thought passes the bar for public consumption, but some people seem to have a running stream-of-consciousness thing going here
