The 2026 Free Agency Thread

Yeah I can't believe it but it feels like they are the 2. All the other top weapons we have discussed to nauseam and they are the last two men standing

And the really scary thing is the consistent drumbeat from Keim that they aren’t really desperate at TE, they won’t “overpay”. When TE is arguably even weaker than WR on this roster and is GAINING importance in this new heavy look offense.

Being frugal in free agency is one reason we end up trading draft picks.

So, its a yin-yang of having people worry so much about the cap (although there are ways to get around it as we all know) and others worry about emptying the draft closet.

But in the end we need BOTH, impact players coming in free agency AND impact players coming from the draft.

Again, if we had really hit the jackpot in the draft and had kept our picks perhaps we could avoid FA at a big contract scale altogether as the Ravens have done.

But we haven't and now have a cupboard where the china is partly broken or chipped.

I like consistency in approach. Once I understand and see the approach and then see gradual improvements I can buy in because I understand it.

But right now we are tepidly in the pool on some things and then completely out on others where there seems to be a screaming need.

maybe we have it all wrong.. there is got to be a trophy for saving the most cap every year! Peters is dealing... in trophies.

I really think we are playing the “I hope they’re right” game at a few positions. Daronte spoke highly of our safeties and linebackers - no noise on either position.

Tight end has been a “Chig” or bust spot for awhile, which means they believe in Sinnott and Bates (Bates is a really good blocking tight end).

And shit, they could be absolutely right. But I’d like insurance.

I think we have swung and whiffed at receiver, which based on offseason pressers was one of the biggest priorities for us. But other than that I kinda think this IS the plan.

We don't have the capital to trade up, and most of the projected 2nd round guys are fairly big flyers IMO.... if any do hit, it's usually in year 2. We've got Terry and a bunch of JAGs... we absolutely have to get at least one more proven receiving option here in FA.

Well there's one guy left. But will be a bidding war.

If we trade #71 and a 5th to move up to say #60 or so, there might be someone who can produce better than the group we trotted out last year.

I've actually been liking some of the WR supposedly available in the late 2nd more than the early 2nd.

I don't know if that's enough to get one...but we can't come out of this off-season with an aging Terry...and then somebody in the 5th round that's severely flawed, and another FA with an awful injury history.

just wondering if Hollywood Brown is worth looking at for a 1 year stopgap, in lieu of not getting pierce or shaheed. haven't paid much attention to him since he left Baltimore years back.

Shifting away from the gloom, I think there is a chance we wind up with White, Chig/Njoku, Teller and Jennings.

I’d be pretty happy there.

how about we trade the #71 pick this year and a mid pick next year to get Brian Thomas?

then we can go ahead and use the #7 overall pick on Downs, Love or one of the top 4-5 guys if they drop.

I love his hard line on signing guys.

But it doesn’t work when that is the way you can get guys. If this team got consistently good AP’s strategy wins championships. His strategy is sound.

He’s NOT bad GM. This is a really tough situation.

I agree except I’ll add that if he doesn’t prove over whatever appropriate period of time that he can effectively draft a good team, then he IS a bad GM. Because then that means he has basically zero avenues to add real talent available to him and you can’t win that way. In that case he’s bad at every aspect of his job because his technically viable FA strategy only works if he can draft.

Hopefully that’s not the case, obviously. The sample size gets bigger every year and eventually it’ll be big enough to make a determination.

I just saw Peters picking up Danny Weurffel and Cliff Russell at Dulles. They’re on their way to Ted’s Bulletin in Ashburn to meet up with Ade Jimoh who has already ordered appetizers for the whole table. Pierson Prioleau and Marko Mitchell are going to be there too handing out pop tarts.

Jags aren't trading him though, but sure that would be great.

I thought Schefter definitively said Jags are not trading Thomas, period. Not entertaining offers. The buzz is just social media doing its usual nonsense thing.

Jags are amazing. They finally get some mojo going and then bad mouth their own #1 pick receiver and now they aren't going to trade him?

Boy, I bet he is one happy camper to be in FLA about now :LOL:

I agree. I usually haven’t liked this operation’s plans, so it leaves me feeling cold.

lol and there it is, another INSPIRED SAN Fran free agent

Peters going after old San Fran players is like the Rivera regime drafting and signing Bama defensive players because they played well in college 😂

ETA: I wouldn’t mind Jennings but get us a TE for the love of GOD
