The Rams were in the NFC championship game and have Stafford on a professional quarterback contract and yet they seemingly have an endless amount of money to spend in free agency and trades.

McDuffie and his new contract. Then there was Watson and his new contract. Now a tight end.

Meanwhile, Washington has barely made a ripple.

let's all remember that Washington was 5-12 and has to do BETTER than other teams to get better and compete at a higher level.

instead it appears we are getting weaker.

Because despite trading their own 1sts, the Rams draft well, develop well, and scheme to their players’ strengths. So they can do anything else they desire basically. Because they nailed the fundamentals and have a QB. It’s really that simple. Draft well.

Oh and Kroenke is richer than a lot of NFL owners bundled together so they’re able to manipulate the cap by converting salary to bonuses whenever they wish. But the first thing I said is bigger.

The ones where you have that deep feeling in your gut, this guy would be a huge upgrade, and then you also have this feeling like, hey what do I know. This was a spot that caused SIGNIFICANT big plays in our defense last year. It was a hole that was exploited SO MANY TIMES last year.

Then your team doesn't get him, but another team you absolutely loathe and are sick of gets him.

For me, that is Edmunds. It's really putting me off. I'm not saying he is some amazing player, but to me, he reads as the type of player you absolutely want to replace Wagner. To me, NOT going after him - that left him to go to NYG with no issue, and it also begged the question, do they think Wagner is the appropriate guy again?

Edmunds appeared to have all of the right skills to replace Wagner and be a significant upgrade there. Great tackler, great leader from what I understand, proven ability, made some very well-timed big plays. A lot of Wagner in there, but it's the younger version.

Why NYG? I just feel like, Harbaugh knows - get a great leader at that position, you are setting your defense up for success. Again, it seems like a fairly obvious read to me. 🤮

Bears fans were saying he wasn’t good in coverage, so there’s at least that?

The Giants have already drafted well on defense. This should help them no doubt.

I would have liked Edumnds also, but having watched him quite a bit over the years in BUF and CHI, he is definitely much better v the pass than the run. Pretty much the opposite of Wagner.

There are a lot options left at LB (Lloyd, Dean, Elliss, Chenal, Walker)

Yeah, well the theory here last summer was that Jordan Magee was going to get a real chance to play on the defense in 2025 and we would be able to see if he is the guy at ILB and instead we saw Wagner on the field and taking up most of the first team reps for the defense at 35 and calling all the plays even when the team was far out of contention.

It was basically a waste of the last few weeks in seeing some younger players play more.

But that's the way this team rolls.

All we did those last few weeks were watch Von Miller, Wagner and other geezers pile up some stats in garbage time to make their years look decent.

Exactly - draft well AND scheme to players' strengths. Killer combo.

It's like a puzzle analogy. You have a guy who buys the puzzle pieces (GM). He buys either pieces that are obvious fits, how they go in and are useful is so clear, it's great. Or, he is picking up pieces the size of the 10,000 puzzle piece set.

Then you have the guy who needs to place the puzzle pieces (Coach). He can handle a toddle 10-piece set? He can handle a 500-piece set? He can handle a 10,000 piece-set?

The better the coach, the more flexible you are with your "hits" as GM. He can make the pieces look good, and you now have a great problem - re-up, or trade for value. You have a bad coach, you don't have those options. The player has poor value, and now what? However, you give him up with poor value, and a good coach picks him up that way... and magic, he's good!? How did that happen? Surprise, surprise.

So, anyway - I think the Rams do draft well, but they are really good because they do that AND they have really good coaching. Great combination. At this point, I'm not sure what we have. We'll have to see how it plays out, I'll try to be patient here.

I am pretty freaking annoyed about missing out on Edmunds. I thought I'd be annoyed - didn't expect my reaction like this. I think the contract landed EXACTLY where I thought it would, and I think it's a good value for him. I also hate that he's on the Giants. I guess that is why.

Magee is a gamble, hope we add 2 more LBs, don't think we can hand Magee a job no questions asked.

Also, they never have to hire on to a new offense because they have McVey so everything is always the same on offense.

This is one of the major reasons, probably the only one, I was out on this current set up from day 1.

Thanks, I need to read things like this. I certainly have not seen him much. The stats look really good to me, they look like the kind of guy that can replace Wagner really effectively. Also, from what I read anyway, good leadership.

I also get concerned when Harbaugh gets him to NYG. That always worries me.

That is a significant role where we would do well to have a strong veteran presence. We have inexperience at the coordinator there. The profile just seemed like the right fit. I hope the other options can have a good fit.

He's a good player don't get me wrong, but not sure he is the Wagner replacement that we want.

Hope we add too. But is this any more a gamble than cutting Biadasz and having no one but Allegretti at center, defending up the middle in front of Daniels?

Kind of surprised his cost went down considering the shape of QB across the league. Might’ve made a nice bridge for the Raiders if they hadn’t already (likely) made a poor impression on him in 2020 lol

Pretty sure we extended Tunsil so that we could do a player for player trade with SD and get Biadasz back at center. AP would for sure make a splash that way.

So, to this point we have retained Mariotta, ensured that a guy we gave up a bevy of draft picks for in Tunsil will indeed show up to camp on time and acquired a third corner who may very well turn out to be the third corner on the depth chart.

I think that is a reason to go out and get a steak!

Job well done everyone at Ashburn.

We can say signed a cornerback but at this point I can't even say with confidence we have signed a starter.

So, if that is the signature OUTSIDE move we made in real free agency in Day 1, we must be one of the teams that is listed so far as a loser in the early period.

Doesn't Robertson look to you like a lower to mid-tier signing that could have been had a couple of days from now after all the sure fire starters have been signed?
Well, today hasn't felt great, that's for sure. Watching so many other teams improve, some dramatically improve while we hear of near signing misses

You're 100% correct

Let's see how it plays out, but hope there is a plan
