Cushenberry and Glasgow are the only two that I think would be better than Alligretti.

Adam Peters next press conference "the way we look at it, we signed Tunsil and got our #1 free agent target" Only question is... will we sign another week 2 or 3 free agent talent today or tomorrow and say we overpaid because of the market.

Jennings and Doubs (and Shaheed) still out there.

Oweh still out there, as is Hendrickson in a pinch and guys like Paye and Bosa.

ANd Devin Lloyd still there.

So all my preferred targets are still alive.

I mean I get worrying about JD’s contract but who besides him do we really have to pay in the next few years. Ain’t like we the Eagles with 15 all pro contracts coming due.

JD is locked down for 5 more seasons if you take into account the Franchise tag. His contract should have no bearing on this years FA class at all. To me it appears Josh Harris is being cheap. Which is kind of strange to me as the 76ers and Devils both are at the top of their leagues in player salaries. I just dont understand what is happening here with their unwillingness to spend money.

We don’t have that much money. We had about 15 open active roster slots and that meant we could average about $5M/slot.

I’m not sure if Tunsil added or took cap space. So can’t comment there. But that was 15 holes with Tunsil.

So we don’t have the kind of cap that it looks like we have. But should still have more than this.

You keep saying this as though the amount of available cap space divided by roster openings is the amount we can spend on each player in free agency.

That's not how it works, you can structure any deal to have any cap hit you want in the first year.

Obviously you have to be careful pushing too much cap into the future but right now we appear to be one of the cheapest teams in the league in that regard.

We can sign multiple guys to contracts that average way over 5 mil per season and structure their deals so that early cap hits are less and still fill the back end of the roster with mostly guys who average 5 mil per year.

We’re not a destination because we have a shitty coach on a hot seat, who’s likely gone next year. 2 brand new coordinators and an oft injured qb. That’s too many ??? for most FAs

I don't believe they released Biadasz with the plan to sign Linderbaumj anyway. I think they said 'we'll pencil in Allegretti there and if we get the chance to upgrade, we can do that'. I hate the release because I don't believe they really had a solid plan beyond letting Biadasz walk.

So, why have confidence in a GM and front office that acts in this manner? Allegretti was an easy discard in KC, the team never made a move to try and retain him. Somehow he comes here and underperforms for 2 years but then plays 2 games at center in garbage time at the end of the season when other teams like the Eagles are resting starters and he is the guy?

That's a joke on the face of it.

I recall touting the impressive job the HOG team had done with putting lipstick on the FedEx Field pig. I now wish they wouldn’t have spent that money and instead used it to be a cash driven org that spends like crazy on talent.

Would you prefer to overpay on a few guys or would you prefer to go into this season with last year’s roster + some cheap old vets + 5 rookies + UDFA’s? Sometimes you gotta pay to play.

I will reiterate. We have rolled over tens of millions of cap space multiple years in a row. We are in no danger of getting ourselves into a bad cap health situation. There’s no reason to live in fear of spending our cap dollars. This constant Bruce Allen “I would be okay with this guy but I don’t want to overpay” is just sad. It reads like a defense mechanism so you can be content with the level of spending our new ownership/FO has committed to so far in our relationship with them (the only info we have so far. The sample size will continue to grow, of course)
