Maybe but if I am riding with the other rumors, they are hitting RB in FA, too. Will see. They add Jennings and they can major in run blocking.

This is just me spitballing some. But with all these rumors and just listening to Standig and Keim and thinking about the state of the team.

A. They don't have marquee players
B. They really really know it
C. Must win year
D. They can't come out of FA with hey we tried, we had a lot of cash but swung and missed
E. Peters gone from the reputation in year 1 from a gem to sucking
F. Their stadium was again invaded by other teams, not hot TV draw, etc

They can't go back to a meh off season like last time and watch teams like NE spend like mad and go to the SB.

When you watch some of these national shows talking about different rosters when they get to this one, its yuck, one of the worst rosters in the league. I doubt the perception of this team by fans, etc, is lost on them.

My point is if they miss on a target or two, they pivot to another one. They can't leave FA bragging about hey we got our next D. Wise, Will Harris and Kinlaw. But more on point this arguably is the worst roster in the NFL from the context of lacking difference makers -- maybe the Jets are worse but that might be it.

They need sign as many difference makers as they can reasonably fit under the cap, without regard to what they'd like to do in the draft.

If they sign a few top of the line receiving options, then Tate is the logical pick in the draft, pick him and figure it out later.... same thing if you sign Walker and then Love is the obvious pick in the draft, ditto for pass rusher.
 
The saga around Biadasz is slowly creeping towards problematic. Did we ever hear if it was a June 1st cut?

- Guy wasn't amazing but certainly wasn't bad.
- Cut him because he's getting paid more than his value, okay sure
- Doesn't save you cap money bc it's only 2M if designated now; while 8M savings if designated June 1st but can't access that money until June.
- He immediately gets signed. If this wasn't a June 1st cut, that's really bad that we couldn't scoop like, at least a 6th or 7th for him.
- Now we might be looking to overpay another guy.

Don't get me wrong that OL is important, but we had/have needs in basically every positional grouping, so adding C to the mix AND adding another probably 15M against the cap (thinking near to 20M/year but backloaded) just seems...poorly managed. I guess it'd only be another 7M if designated June 1st, but 7M is a LOT of money to add for a position that we should probably address some other way.

I take a different point of view, if JD is the one player that will either make or break this team then I am more than OK with having the centerpiece of the O line being a position that we should invest in and invest in for multiple years to come. Center is pivotal to how the rest of the O line functions as a unit.

To piggyback on this, a simple truth. The best in the league don’t sign one year contracts. So that strategy self selected our roster.

When AP said he was going to shift from that strategy, it went hand in hand with finally taking risks.

The Math in a spreadsheet could look very different. If they plan to reallocate, it could very well be that losing Biadasz and having a different plan in place (even one of say 5 or 6 options) all looked better than keeping him. We won’t know necessarily but a lot depends on what they intended to do. While we may not know specifics the tells will be:

- what C looks like at the end
- how much money they have at the end. If C doesn’t look better but they have less money at the end, that may have been purposeful, to reallocate.

There aren’t big comments coming out and national media does not track like we do.

There are plenty of general comments though. AP has said some things about being a bigger FA player.

I could see Chenal being a target fit the apparent mold well.

My hopes are they hit a few guys like him. I am not feeling Pierce and question the OL assets of taking Linderbaugh
