The 2026 Free Agency Thread

One week from Monday. I am dying for actual news to react to, rather than playing the endless if-then-else game.

Maybe we're missing the bread crumbs in the Wiley restructure and they're working on the entire Oline right now. Maybe they went to Tyler B's agent at the combine and discussed a restructure (he doesn't have any more guarantees this year) and couldn't agree on his value.

I think some of this will definitely come to light for example, if they announce a restructure to Allegretti and Tunsil resign then there were clues.

As an aside, Ben Standig said he talked to some folks in the league who said Tyler B was "serviceable" and that's about it.

Probably just me wish-casting, but I agree he is the target. He’s the one guy that seems most reliably likely to be there for us. And RB is the one position where I think we could get away with not signing a FA and count on getting him in the draft. Of course you can never be 100% certain, but if worse comes to worse, I think we could be ok with whatever’s available after the draft and/or sticking with last year‘s crew.

Maybe it’s not THE plan, per se. More like an option, depending how free agency goes.

My plan…Make an offer to K-9, but if he says no, I’m all for leaving the position open until the draft.

One things for sure, they are unpredicable and no one knows they're thinking. LOL

It would not surprise me if they beefed up the Oline to draft Love.

Just your toes?

Hearing they are not gonna overspend on X is getting old. They better spend some serious cash during free agency or I’m gonna believe the cost control stuff is real.

Good point about a running back being more of a sure thing. I also think it’d be a surprise if Love went before our pick given the needs of the other teams. I highly doubt it would happen, but imagine if KC jumped us knowing Love was our target? That’d be a kick in the nuts.

Versatility and raising the floor are for teams that have a core of blue chip players and need to build around that.

If we don’t go hard and heavy in FA, this is going to feel like the old school wizards. Scratching and clawing to be mediocre, in some of the conversations.

Also, I saw something about Trent Williams being released, if they can’t come to an agreement to get his cap number down from $39 million. He’d make a pretty solid left guard. Not that he’d sign up for that.
I disagree with your first sentence. For one, I don’t think there’s one way to build a roster. For 2, just look at our ‘24 FA/season to see the potential benefits of a high floor roster without high end FAs (and without a core of blue chip players). More importantly though, we have a roster with a ton of holes to fill (just in terms of bodies, let alone talent).

To be clear though, I’m not suggesting we only target super cheap FAs or not spend (at least close) to the cap.

The 2024 roster wasn’t good either, it was just healthier than the 2025 roster and carried by an ascendant Daniel’s stretch of elite QB play. That roster maybe didn’t have a single fatal flaw but it was flawed. We didn’t do enough in FA that year either imo, though we did hit on basically all of our upside signings which you can’t always expect

Needing to fill/turnover 50% or so of the roster and reset the climate of an organization is one hell of a challenge. I think that Quinn nailed his part and that Peters could have done better.

Both, in my mind, are on the clock now or at least should be. They are both decidedly on my clock. It’s time for both to step up or step out. Whitt was a whiff, Kingsbury was not but I did have concerns about the long-term effectiveness of his system. Jones has the chops to potentially be successful, Blough is a hitting on 16 type of gamble when your future is hanging in the balance.

Commanders Cut Tyler Biadasz I BMitch & Finlay

some ideas why we released him

I mean, I disagree. They couldn't run block. Was that scheme, coaching, player issues...all 3?

The OL was over hyped due to pass blocking improving as the season went on, but the run blocking was not a plus.

For the record I also think this is weird, I'm hoping they explain it in a way that doesn't drag the player through the mud.
I don't think it was over-hyped. I think it was good. It was better at pass blocking as the season went on. Run blocking, I mean, the Hogs would have had a hard time run blocking at times when we had Chosen and Moore or whoever at WR and Marcus at QB, so the entire defensive game plan was "stack the box, stop the run, and make them beat us with PS level WR's and a backup QB.

I'm an uneducated football idiot and I could put that game plan together.

I thought they really liked Biadacz. I just fine this really, really weird.

^Agreed, don't recall ever hearing one negative comment. Always positive reviews

Okay - sounds great. What do we have to trade? And why didn’t we try to trade Biadasz?
Lattimore! He's still on the roster for some reason, right?
