He’s a two-down player, I don’t think he’ll get that. Physically he could handle 300 touches if that was how the modern league operated, but he’s not really well-rounded so he can’t be a bellcow. He’s a good banger and goal line guy though

He can want any amount and that's too high. It doesn't mean he is going to pull in a big contract. Then like always there will be a chain reaction and eventually Barkley will be wanting a raise

Oh, I took that as $22M total over 3 years (so more like $7.3M per lol), which would still be more than Jordan Mason got from the Vikings last year. And I think they fill a similar role

What does this guy do that CRod can’t do?

Well, he earned enough carries to accumulate over 1,000 yards as a rookie at 4.9 YPC. Then the Falcons drafted the most hyped RB prospect in memory who lived up to the billing, and Allgeier still took a ton of carries away from him. Let’s not down talk the guy too much.

He’s still not worth that, and CRod is certainly a functional NFL RB. But he’s struggled to stay on an active roster and never been stolen off our PS over the years. Allgeier is much better. No evidence at all that CRod could be a bellcow like that over a full season, if we’re honest. And no one would give him the chance.

If he had to start, I think Allegretti would be decent. Would not be a disaster like Nick Gates. Would be more like Wes Schweitzer who was solid when he had to start at center

FA is loaded with options. There are at least 5 starting caliber guys and former starters who may be buy low bets like Hennessey (who was with Quinn in ATL and has been with Kyle in SF) and Fortner.

With a Jayden extension coming up, I don’t think center is a position we want to be paying 8 figures for anyway.

I kind of want to restructure Allegretti, give Hennessey the Allegretti deal and spend a 6th on a rookie to see if that guy could be the starter in 2027. Nice think with both Allegretti and Hennessey is they both have the versatility and starting experience at guard

Two more notes on Hennessey.

1) He was an elite run blocker in his sole year as starting center in 2021. He also gave up the most QB hurries that year. If he has gotten to average on that front, you have yourself a good starting center

2) Not that it means much now but he was drafted ahead of both Biadasz and Cushenberry in the 2020 class

It sounds okay but I mean, Allegretti was a really a weak spot at G, are we sure is worthy of becoming the starting C? If that really the plan?

If they believe Allegrettti can start, they should absolutely draft a C day 3. One suggestion I've brought up Iowa's Logan' Jones

Your comment inspired me to investigate Allegrettis draft profile, especially his experience at C. Wow...he scored a 42 on his Wonderlic! So he seems to be a hard working, hard motor, short armed but incredibly intelligent C. I did not know that although his college career was primarily as a guard, he start 5 games at C.

Couple of thoughts:

1. Love: Count me as excited if they draft him. However, I can't ever think of a team who drafted a running back top half of the first round (usually coming off of a bad season) who greatly improved the following season(s). Besides that, Peters comes from teams that invest heavily in the lines, predominantly through the draft.

2. Free Agency Letdown: All of these wishlists and assurances from Kiem got me hopeful but also fighting off the fear that we will be disappointed.

3. Salary cap affecting prices: Everyone reacting to potential contract numbers with 🤯 are forgetting the new Salary Cap is now over $300 million. Contracts are going to seem like an overpay but will take up less percentage of the cap than previous years.

I had no idea he had a 42 Wonderlic. Guy is a nerd. I saw somewhere he is a big coin collector

Couple of thoughts:

1. Love: Count me as excited if they draft him. However, I can't ever think of a team who drafted a running back top half of the first round (usually coming off of a bad season) who greatly improved the following season(s).

The Lions (2022: 9-8) drafting Jahmyr Gibbs to be their big play engine is the blueprint here (2023: 12-5, conference title game)

Along with plenty of other additions, of course. And Ben Johnson breaking out as a playcaller to be reckoned with.

Besides that, Peters comes from teams that invest heavily in the lines, predominantly through the draft.

This is true, but he was also still with SF when they traded premium draft picks for CMC when they decided their mid-late round RB swings weren’t hitting well enough for their liking, with Purdy developing and needing a focal point

Jones would be good. I’d be happy with pat coogan as well. Some good center prospects this year

Watched a bunch of Biadasz plays... had to piece stuff together so it's admittedly a small percentage...

But he was constantly barking out calls, getting to his assignments, anchoring against larger rushers and made very few mistakes. He climbed to second level well, had good escapes on screens...

I don't know, man. This one doesn't make sense to me still.
