I think Shula has done a great job with him--he's a much better coach. When Curl was here, he was solid, but he was not a playmaker. He had a good rookie year--3 INTs, including a pick 6--he was pedestrian after that. 0 Ints, 1 forced fumble the next three years.

Agree on Shula but that is part of my comment. Curl had talent and was not used well.

Whitt - and Donatell maybe - probably did collaborate with AP on who they thought to keep and who to let go. They probably had input, with what we can kind of see on how AP operates by now.

Bad coaches are probably 100 times worse in a heavily collaborative system like AP. I get the feeling Howie is not quite the same as AP there, and I think overall Howie's system (in collaboration) is better, because if your coaches are screw-ups, you didn't replace potentially good players with bad. I think this is likely the Slye->McManus/horror show we had at K (McManus wouldn't have been "bad" I think but even there unclear on the change from Slye - and McManus had a relationship with our ST coach). I do wonder on the Curl move being driven this way.

Figure it out. They can both do both things. A little creativity can go a long way. And two strong safeties would have been much better than the 0 safeties we had out there this season.

Either way, shoulda kept one of them. Would love a deeper explanation of what happened with Chinn. Everyone and their grandma knew he was gonna cost around 8M a year, not sure how that deal didn't get done real early.

Now we have to figure out both spots instead of just one, since Quan isn't the guy, but Kam probably isn't gonna cost a bajillion dollars and we have far too many holes to be worrying about whether someone of Curl's caliber is good enough or not. If he comes loose, get a deal done quickly, we have other major holes to fill.

I didn't realize that. I was expecting them to try extending Chinn before the end of the season.

It will but the Seahawks are not going to tag K9. The Seahawks will have to blow his socks off with an offer pre FA for him not to hit the market

I don't want to pay a Super Bowl premium for any player unless he is really a top 5-7 player at his position.

Too often these guys win the Super Bowl then they get outsized deals and never approximate what they did that season.

I would rather look for the best players on some of the worst clubs that don't want to resign with them and go into FA.

I just want legitimately good to very good players between the ages of 24-28, even if we overpay some for them because other teams also want them. How many players like that have we signed the past two offseasons? Luvu may be the only one, and then we misused him after his first successful year here.
