Between the Williams and Allen picks, I am pretty confident in saying that the staff wanted to fix 3rd down efficiency.

Assuming you guys are describing him accurately, we did need more of a bruiser in our RB room, so this makes sense.

3. KAYTRON ALLEN, Penn State (5-11 ½, 217, no 40, 3-4): All-time leading rusher for the Nittany Lions. Of the next 11, one was his teammate (Nicholas Singleton), one was drafted in the second, one in the third and one in the sixth. The other seven were first-round picks: Saquon Barkley, Curt Warner, Blair Thomas, Curtis Enis, D.J. Dozier, Larry Johnson and Ki-Jana Carter. Said one scout: “More production than talent.” Finished with 769 carries for 4,180 (5.4) and 39 TDs plus 70 receptions for 490 (7.0) and four scores. “He has great vision and feel for blocks,” one scout said. “Shows great feet and quickness inside with a slight burst. Just doesn’t have second-level speed and explosives. Strong and tough.” Four-star recruit from Norfolk, Va. “Gritty, between-the-tackles type of runner,” a third scout said. “He can catch fairly well.” Declined to run the 40 or perform any other physical testing at the combine. Ditto for pro day March 18, when he cited a hamstring injury for why he did drill work only. “He is slow, no doubt about it,” a third scout said. “Naturally instinctive runner. If there is a quarter of a hole he’s going to find it. He’s got great run strength and contact balance. He’s going to get the dirty yards. Won’t make people miss in space. You don’t even want him as the No. 2 because he doesn’t really have any big plays. He’s a 4-minute guy, your grinder and hammer. As a kid, really rough around the edges.”

He is a bruiser but he’s also kinda not (I don’t mean that he doesn’t run with power. I mean that he also has vision and shiftiness)? I need to watch again… and will tonight. But he is kind of a well rounded runner. I’d say below average pass catcher and if I remember right he’s solid in pass pro.

I think he might wind up starting. But we’ll see what improvements Billiam made this offseason. He could have taken huge steps

Not a ton in the passing game, they used Singleton for that, but has more passing production than Croskey-Merritt who had almost nothing in college.

6.2 yards per carry. over 1300 yards. 15 TDs.

Forgot who asked me who is going to be the RB in the red zone -- shooting for TDs. It's this guy. He has the size and physicality -- 15 TDs.

Look like he can block from what you see? Picturing him a staple within 3 yards and hitting PA on occasion.

DJ just did a nice piece on Kaytron Allen. Said he liked that one out of the last 10 picks. Not gonna blow your doors off but he's a grinder with good vision, instinctive and good feel. Gonna fill that load share of the inside physical stuff.

I do like Bill’s upside though, he’s fun to watch when he gets to turn on the burners. And his is a cool story, he won several rookie of the week honors after having to miss his senior season and slipping to the 7th round. He will get his opportunities and I’ll be rooting for him.

But yes, White is probably the lead dog in the RBBC.

Best all around back on the roster, which I know isn't saying much.
 
Just getting up to speed on Allen, but my first impressions are good. He looks like he will be good in areas some of our other backs are weak, he should be a contributor and could end up being a big part of our offense.

From a value stand point it feels like a steal. He's one of the more hyped backs in this class. As I mentioned hours back, good back, but he reminds me so much of Rodriguez that I figured they aren't looking for that type.

I noticed him while watching Singleton. He took Singelton's job, really steady, good vision, good contact balance, physical runner -- he's not high variance fron one run to the next, really steady if tyou want to control the clock he's your guy. In the red zone, he's youy guy. Good pass protector from what i recall.
 
Got names being discussed here flying off the board between the two 6th round picks. Ouch.

Somehwhat (highly!) off-topic but I wanted to look this up on nflmockdraftdatabase.com on their consensus board and so much stuff is locked behind a paywall now (wanted to see where fit in certain specific Big Boards). Brutal.

But, overall rank seems to be #143.
 


I kind of like his style, he looks like a natural. Pretty good agility, speed, and power. Good effort. Great vision. He really knows how to follow blocks, hugely important skill for a runner.
 
Is there an injury to Burks or character concerns? I know he’s another slot but… kinda hard to pass if he’s healthy.

Benny, DT, Michigan would be a nice pickup.

I’d give a shot to Isaiah World, T, Oregon. He’s another potential guy. Physically he’s a monster.

Harold Perkins Jr. is a project. Not sure about him but if he ever puts it together…
