The 2026 Draft Thread - Day 2

I’m gonna throw a log on the fire but AP sounded 100% like he will play both Z and slot to me. He’s going to be on the field a lot. I don’t share your concern so it’s no sweat to me, but he’s gonna play outside in two receiver sets.

Happy Will Ferrell GIF
There’s a way they can do it without making me stroke out… treat him like a slot at Z. He’s off the LoS anyways, so give him the same route package, motions, and try to keep him off bigger bodies in the blocking game and I can live with it.

Hes tough, but I worry about his health. Even in practice, if he has to go and pick up Sonny Styles, Luvu, etc. especially Luvu.

That will be primarily in camp, but that could be a good time to get a gauge on his ability to do that.

I just think it’s too cute to give him a more “traditional” Z role. If they use him like teams use Tutu Atwell or Ladd McConkey I think it might be okay.

Malachi Fields had one of the worst seperation scores in this group. And if you watch him, its evident.

For a dude that isn't that fast and isn't that hot of a seperator, to his credit he was a good deep ball threat in college. But will that work in the pros? I was watching one of these analytics guys talking about college WR with poor seperation skills really struggiling in the pros.

I was ok with Fields. i like his hands and size. But to me I think he's limited.

PFF had Antonio rated higher than Fields by 31 spots.
I might have gone Fields but that won't surprise you. I was always a little higher on him. I wanted a big guy like him or Boston for instance for Jayden.

By drafting Williams I'd say Jauan will be entering the building soon

Shit. I liked Deion Burks more in the slot and Chris Bell as an outside guy…

But I think it was a damned good pick. He makes us better. Immediate upgrade over the other slots.

I mean yeah, he’s gonna be useless against LBs, but that’s a lot of WRs. And right, he’s gotta avoid getting killled. I’ve been really busy at work so just spent all my time on 7. Was a Lemon fan in trade back but watching Williams now, I’m not seeing much gap. Different styles but with Lemon going to play with Jaylen Turds, I’d call Williams a favorite to have a better career.

Oh I thought Bell was taken ahead of us. Sorry, I missed most of the 2nd and pretty much all of the 3rd rounds
Bell was my fav receiver but wasn'tt thinking AP would go for him due to return from injury questions

Blough will figure out what to do with him.

Sounds like he played outside in 2024 and slot in 2025. Having experience at both and being able to move around is good, I would think. I don’t quite get the excitement over that.

Another thing I like is that he’s played through injuries. Not that he’s been injured, but the toughness is valuable.

I’m going to trust skinsinparadise on this one, looks like he’s got the receipts. Good pick!

That's great if they can move him around some to play outside at least occasionally.

I meant AJ Haulcy as the one BayouBrave86 wanted, not Fields, complete brain fart on that one.

I think Haulcy is going to hit bigger highs in his career than Williams will and has a real chance at becoming a Pro Bowl/All Pro type of player. You don’t find big thumpers like him who can also cover the way he does in zone and instinctively make plays consistently. He has had 8 picks over the past two years and earned 1st team All American status

That being said, at this point, it’s starting to feel obvious AP doesn’t value the safety position the same way orgs like the Rams and Lions do.

In 2024, he inherited Quan, let Curl go and signed Chinn for peanuts

In 2025, he let Chinn go and signed Harris even cheaper

In 2026, he brought Cross in at a $7M AAV.

Hopefully, with the depth this safety class has, he can find a hidden gem Day 3

I am VERY hesitant to say this and don’t want to go too far with it, but it has crossed my mind that there might be an inkling of a Santana vibe here. Don’t think there’s any chance he’s as good but I see some similarities.

Similar/same height and weight

Eagles always have crazy backers. That's a, lot of bread though for someone coming off a bit of a down year

Different type of player. Jayden is a timing based passer. Throw it to a spot. You want WRs who are polished route runners who can seperate on the first level and 2nd level consistently. That's this guy.

So many of these 2nd tier WRs are projects, one dimensional, etc. I want a guy who can hit the ground running and help Jayden now. I must have posted like 50 times Bernard and Antonio Williams are those guys. Just 5 minutes ago i posted he's my top guy left. But I didn't think they'd take him because no ties-rumors connected to him.

Maybe a cross of St. Brown and Crowder? Think of him as Crowder if Crowder was faster, had better hands and was better blocker and better with YAC.

As much as I crapped on this WR situation, if they add Aiyuk to this guy, I am good. IMO he's going to be a good slot WR righjt away. I didn't feel that way about most of these 2nd tier WRs -- to me it was Bernard and Antonio who I kept saying were the most well rounded, consistent WRs in that tier who I trusted to make an impact immeidately.
Was way too late for me to stay up for pick 71 but I am delighted with this pick for this reason exactly. This guy will gain Jayden’s trust immediately with his precision route running. You want a WR with immediate impact 2026 then this is the guy.

Williams is about 6’0 and 190. That’s big enough to play on the outside in this league.

I think Peters is right about that.

I agree the team will still add a veteran but the longer this goes the less likely it’s going to be Aiyuk.
