The 2026 Draft Thread - Day 2

Brazzell is a 100% no go for me. I don't trust any wide receiver from Tennessee, he has a VERY simple route tree - only vertical. Shows no ability to do much other than catch a deep ball. We have a receiver that does those exact things - Dyami Brown. But he actually can run other routes.

We didn't miss on anything by not choosing Brazzell.
ditto. after watching a couple years of Hyatt on the giants, i'm good on tenn. receivers too.

Ouch, Truth! Hope the 3rd times the charm.
You could argue both have been successful in different ways.

Lane might already be a top 5 punt returner in the league.

McCaffery is the same for kickoff returners.

Now they need them to become better receivers.

They might be competing for one roster spot. Primary returner and last WR active on game day.
Look folks we are trying to add offensive weapons to play with Jayden Daniels, if Williams can run routes efficiently and get separation and use that 4.4 speed to make plays in the middle of the field for YAC I don't give a damn about who we have on kickoff returns.

The game has changed a lot since the 1970's - 1990's when kick returns were a much larger part of the game.

With the rules changes few kickoffs end up being returned in today's game.

Let's not cut off our nose to spite our face.

I definitely don’t know football nor do I spend time like the guys on here, but can someone explain to me why we just drafted Isaiah Simmons and a tiny receiver? Sorry, obnoxious questions.
Isaiah Simmons?

Huh?

Why are we trading up? WTF?

lol ok buddy. This isn’t the guy to draft. We should’ve taken Haulcy.

Point is, tons of good players have better teammates still playing in college who then get drafted higher (or not) in future years. It was a dumb comment unless you were just giving a fun fact rather than a value judgement. But you weren’t, you were saying it like it meant something

Giants just traded 105, 145, 2027 4th for 74 to come up and get Malachi Fields

I wasn’t a Fields guy (more Hurst), but AP better hit on Williams if Fields is good for NYG
Fields is a contested catch guy. And every catch is contested because he can’t separate.

I'd take Lane and LMC over Brown and Jefferson. Both former receivers are excellent returners--that's being overlooked

Probably Aiyuk.

But the 49ers will string that out as long as they can.

Yeah, I've kind of given up on Aiyuk unless the 49ers suddenly have their heart grow 3 sizes and they let him go soon.

Like, they owe him no money until September 1, so they can release him Aug 31st and ensure he has no time to gel with a new team. Even assuming he's in shape (which is a BIG assumption), its gonna be at least week 8-9 before he can know the offense well enough to play here worth a darn.

He wanted the LSU guy and is now upset. I get it. If we didn't need receivers I'd be sadface that we didn't pick Scott. But life goes on and we needed a receiver.

Knowing that we are high on Randall als6, you can tell that they scouted a lot of Clemson this year. I wonder if it also was one of those things that they were scouting Williams and also came away loving Randal unintentionally

We can hope (about McCaffery and Lane becoming better WRs). :) I think most fans are disappointed that we don't have enough weapons at WR for JD5 before the draft.

He’s the third best WR on the team and we are taking him with our third? No it’s a dumb move. I don’t care if SIP has done his research on him. He also wanted Tate 😂 Haulcy wouldvehelped our secondary tremendously

Possibly. Which isn’t good for this regime in year three, to have an attempt at a playmaker wash out already (if that’s what happens)
