In terms of the WR’s, I don’t mind one at 71, and obviously, 3rd round receivers are sometimes super productive(see Terry McLaurin). But I don’t want to roll the dice at giving Jayden an adequate supporting cast.
If we take one at 71, I still want to sign or trade for a predictable veteran WR, even if we also sign Aiyuk. Let them fight it out and make some cuts.
Also, if there is a better player in the secondary, at center, at TE, etc, then why forgo a higher graded player instead of taking them and making a move for a vet WR, since there are some available.
If we just take a receiver at 71, and sign Aiyuk, that feels a lot like Peters leaning into his pattern of not putting together enough weapons for Jayden.
