BTJ could absolutely play an Alec Pierce role for us. And he’s young, and not too expensive.

I don’t know about drafting another 3rd round WR being what we need this year. We need a guy that can step in and play, not another developmental receiver.

Then they'll move up next year to grab the QB of their choice with whatever picks they accumulate, which could be at least one additional first.

I think this would be smart of them, and if anyone was going to do it, it would be Howie. But teams have a hard time moving off of their face of franchise QB’s, even the mediocre ones

Many years where that is not the case. Most years, I’d argue.

Even this year, we'd have a choice of Reese, Delane or Styles.

Might we have still picked Styles? Sure.

But we might have picked Delane also, and it's clear that at least one other team thought he was extremely valuable as the best CB on the board.

I would have taken the loss this year and had the choice. Even if the result is the same.

I think it absolutely depends on how this year goes without Brown. If they don't win the division, flame out in the playoffs or miss the playoffs entirely, I think there's a better than even chance this happens. It is SO Howie. He can re-set, re-load and try again with another QB on a rookie deal.

If they win a lot, then they probably don't do this. But that probably means Lemon works out ok, and Hurts is good.

We'll see. But I am going on record that I think Hurts is not in Philly in 2028. I'm not sure where he'll go. Probably to a team that has a coach on the hot seat and has to win. So they will trade a first for him and absorb some new contract extension, and then they'll suck and the coach will get fired anyway.

If any team fits that description, it's the Browns. So, if I had to take a shot, I'll say that Hurts will play on the Browns in 2027.
