The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

I know Keim is biased bc of his alma mater, but he mentions Tate too much for him to not be liked by this FO. Feeling like he might be the guy if he's there.
Kiem has enough credibility to kinda get away with that.

Tate makes sense from a need not just at WR, but becasue of his size and like you said is getting close to BPA territory.

I'm not buying the plan is Love anymore...we overhauled the backfield and I'd be shocked if he makes it past Tenessee.

I still want a trade down because of how few picks we have this year, but I wouldn't be mad with Tate.

I agree. Love has been my want the whole time but I highly doubt he falls. But 2 of 3 will be there out of Tate, Downs amd Styles. And honestly ill be happy with any of those 3. Only players I will really hate to pick is Lemon or an offensive Lineman.

I am good with those three.

I can be talked into Lemon though he feels like a mid first rounder to me.

Not even in a trade down scenario? I'm listening, but not sure I agree since it seems we are positioning ourselves for BPA.
No. Because if that’s the option I’m sticking and picking the best skill position player available.

They can get an interior OL in the third.

And they definitively don’t need a tackle.

And as I said before, I’ve been anti trade Don for 30 years. At least in the first, mostly the second too.

On Lemon, I am rewatching him right now. Wouldn't shock me if he has a career like St. Brown he constantly gets open especially versus zone, has great hands, good with the ball in his hands -- wildcard are those interviews.

However, prominent draft analyst Todd McShay offered a more measured perspective while discussing Lemon’s combine performance on a recent episode of The McShay Show podcast.

“I got news for you, Makai Lemon's podium stuff was flat out weird,” McShay said. “Listen it's the time of year where I take the gloves off, his interviews were not awesome. I talked to someone, high ranking executive in the league... I was like ‘rank the interviews on where you are in terms of what you're getting in the building.’ And he's like ‘[Carnell] Tate and [Jordyn] Tyson nailed it.’”

Despite acknowledging the awkward nature of some interviews, McShay emphasized that the issue alone is not enough to drastically alter Lemon’s draft outlook.

I see...

But in this case we don't have a 2nd round pick. Or a 4th.

Normally I get the logic of avoiding trading down when doing BPA (kinda gets in the way of BPA when you trade down)...but I can't let go of how many picks teams like the Eagles have each year and how they use that to constantly have starters on rookie contracts and ammo for trades for players or trade ups.

Coming off having the oldest roster since they legitametly started tracking average age of roster and having none of our first round picks from the Rivera Era, I can't come with you on the hard line on not trading down...at least this particular draft.

I hear you on why not to pick oline...I don't even see a center worth taking in the first round, the red blinking light need isn't guard or tackle, for sure.

For me I see Lemon as like a Jakobi Myers level WR. Meyers is a goo WR. Solid like #3 WR in my eyes that can step in to be a #2 at times. But I just wouldnt draft a WR at that level in 1st round at all. I think others view Lemon as a Desean Jackson type of skill level and he is not cloae to that. That and USC WR tend to be divas and he lioks the part. That being said I would only be happy with Lemon if we had a 2nd round pick and took a flyer there on him. Im far from a scout. Just an old dummy but this dummy would absolutely hate to hear us say his name on draft day. Besides Lemon I can get on board with just about anyone. I must be watching the wrong tapes too cause I constantly see a guy that gets no separation.

I thought the comp for Lemon was Amon-Ra St Brown? That said, St Brown is a complete DOG and extremely smart. My worry with Lemon is that there were rumors that his interviews were horrible. Not sure if that's a personality thing or an intelligence thing but sounds risky to go with him for #7 pick overall.

The question about Lemon is if he is going to be trouble off the field. Those interviews give off a troubled vibe. But, there is so much these teams can do to figure it out.

If those were just nerves, and they flat out could have been, then teams would know that. Lemon is a really, really good prospect if that’s the case. Like high end slot potential prospect.

His knock, if character checks, is versatility.

I think Tate can play slot or outside. I think Tyson probably could, too. But Lemon is a slot.

I like Germie Bernard almost as much as Lemon. But not quite because of ball production.

I don’t think Fields or Sarratt are JAGs like someone posted earlier, either.

And Chris Bell… he might be sneaky one of the best receivers in the draft just teams are nervous because of the ACL.

Good class. If all the blues are gone at 7, I listen to trade backs. If any of those guys are there I’m taking the highest ranked one and I’m damn excited to have a high end football player.

If you are going strictly on BPA OL could make sense
I think the only OL in the discussion at 7 for pure BPA is Ioane and potentially Mauigoa.

I wondered what Titan fans were saying about the draft. They are comparing Love to Barry Sanders. They say Love is a better version of Bijan. Sp much Love for Love. They will be extremely heart broken if Titans dont take Love. They think they should wait till next years draft to get a WR.

The Georgia LT seems to be getting a lot of top 10 buzz of late.
Yeah… but I don’t think he’s a true BPA guy. I think he’s being artificially moved up based on position.

But yes, he is.

Love to TEN makes a lot of sense.

He supports their young QB and also provides a face to a franchise that has been lacking since Eddie George.
