The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

Boston I think is more of what we are looking for - an outside receiver with size and good hands that is likely to step in and be a Day 1 starter in the NFL.

Like Tate he is not the fastest WR on the board, but is a guy that just comes down with the ball on contested catches and can get open on leverage against smaller DBs.

He's not at all like Lemon, who at 5'11 and 4.49 is a smaller player who has great quickness but his top line speed is not elite.

Boston is a good candidate in a trade down if Tate/Love are taken higher and we want to move back in Round 1 and still get value at the offensive skill positions.

Lemon seems more like a pick at #71.

Now I have to ask... if we had lost that Eagles game... would get to pick at #6?
I was traveling and listening to game updates and when we won that game I almost threw my phone because I just KNEW we would want X player in the draft and be challenged to get him because of a meaningless win in what will be a forgotten season.

The fact we were starting a 40 year old quarterback against Eagles backups was just another point of senselessness.

The win wasn't even for a younger developmental passer we were bringing along to trade or move up to the #2 spot.

I’d honestly try to trade up to 3 for Love, as long as we fortify WR.

If they sign a WR, I am ok in theory but not at the expense of a high 2027 draft pick, that draft is supposed to be special. I'd give up the third but don't think that would do it.

But heck we are still basking in that win so it was worth it. Quinn called that run of games an NFC East tournament. So heck they were able to take 2 of them, amazing.
I am sure 40 year old Josh Johnson was having a good time before he was set to go out and buy his Lazy Boy for his golden years of watching the NFL on TV :devilish:

This would be overpaying in draft comp. If he’s there, he’s there. With what AP is doing in FA, if he’s signs JJ, we truly can go BPA even if it is not Love
Yeah, I don't think a running back is worth the same relative value as a starting WR or EDGE unless that player is really a comp to Barkley as a special talent.

Are we sure that Love is THAT good and has Barkley's longevity as a playmaker?

There is no way at all to know how a player longevity can or will be. There are players that you know are just special and most people think he is one of those special RBs that come once every 5-10 years.

Are we sure Carnell Tate, Jordyn Tyson and Makai Lemon aren’t Jahan Dotson? The answer is: no.

I don’t think Tate is, but Tyson and Lemon have significant warts.

It’s all a guessing game. But if you have Love as the top guy in the draft and he’s there when you pick you draft him. Period.

If we picked Lemon it might make me throw my remote thru my TV.
