The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

If Styles tests as most expect, wondering if he makes it past the Giants.

I wonder if the Titans trade for Jermaine Johnson makes it more likely they go receiver at 4 rather than edge.

UGGGGGHHHH David Bailey why you gotta test so well and run so fast.

Be like 10% worse so you last to 7 pls.

Anyways, so Bailey def gone by 7. Bain's arms make me sad and kinda make me wanna take him off my board (for 7).

It sucks because the positions with elite guys left at 7 are gonna be the lower value positions (LB, RB, S).

Save me Carnell Tate and Jordyn Tyson, your my only hope.

It's a shame there is no tape or scale to measure someone's motor or drive. Give me a high motor guy any day over someone with an inch longer arm.
Can't measure heart

Styles has all the measurements to be a hell of an EDGE. I wonder why OSU never honed his skillset there

I completely agree with you learning curve is steep to transition to off ball LB in the league.

Why can’t Styles play in the AVG role?

He can do it, with that type of athleticism, double A gap blitzes.

some good athletes

I’m out on Bain.

Apparently in the last 10 NFL draft classes, only ONE defense linemen recorded a sack that has less than 31” arms.
To be fair I dont think there have been many sack opportunities in the last ten years from any defensive lineman with arms under 31 inches.

Its kind of unprecedented territory where historical stats will be deceiving.

Aiden Hutchinson and Terrel suggs have short arms by nfl edge standards and they get to the quarterback.

@grok
what NFL players with arm length under 31 inches have gotten 10+ sacks in a season?

None found in NFL history with verified under-31" arms hitting 10+ sacks in a season. Top sack producers (like the 2025 chart) and 100-sack career guys all measure 32"+. Leverage edge is real for disengaging blockers—technique helps but rarely overcomes that gap at elite levels.

Don’t think he’s on our radar at 7 but he’s a guy I don’t think I’d be happy with in a trade back. Doubt we’ll trade back as well, but between 9-12 overall I wouldn’t be happy with him. And I wouldn’t want to go back further anyways

I know there's no historical precedent and I agree it matters and I also agree that I'd much prefer someone else at 7 all im saying is every once in a while someone comes along who defies statistical norms and excels despite those shortcomings and he could be that guy.

Watching his tape ill say this, if thigh size were a determining factor he'd be the number one pick, my god i dont think I've ever seen an edge with a bigger trunk. Lol
