The 2026 Draft Thread - 1st Round - 7th overall

anybody seen anything from Ja'Kobi Lane? Is he playing?

To be fair, not many passes are being caught by anyone. These quarterbacks are absolutely horrendous aside from Nuss. Absolutely atrocious QB play.

Carson Beck is watching this game and seeing his draft stock soar. He may wind up being a first rounder somehow.... Which... yikes.

Cole Payton at least has a fairly strong arm. Got rid of one and the thing hooked in the wind for a short completion. Good leg usage, too.

Has he been on the field though? That's a guy i'm curious about in the 3rd round

Zion Young (Mizzou, Edge) is starting to flash. He's kind of a goofball. Flexxing to the sideline, forward laterals. Good player, though.

Great throw and catch. Zion is taking over the game. He pushed the OL into the QB.that was 3 plays in a row for him

Robertson (Baylor, QB) just doesn't have the arm. The wind is brutal, so in a normal setting he might be okay, He's made some good reads. But he's struggling throwing the ball.

While this is not the best game to be able to judge players, when I have seen Lane he has not been able to separate and has had issues finding a soft spot in D to settle. He also didn't stand out in the practices. I expected a lot from he and Fields. Fields has looked good through the week and today.

It is disappointing that some of the good players that were at the practices are not playing in the game today

Thanks for the update!

I was intrigued by Lane's size, though he's skinny, and he doesn't have the break away speed, but I dont know that we would need that with the other pieces we currently have. Thought Lane complimented the other guys well especially in the Redzone.

I hear you, I found myself thinking similar with Lane and Fields. From what I have seen I'm not thinking he is the guy.

Man, Dunker moved to the inside would be a perfect Hog! lol

So many wants, not enough picks...sigh. If he was there in the 3rd it would hard to pass on him. Hopefully we pick up WR, Ed, LB, and CB in FA so we can grab that guy!!

Didn’t see it mentioned in here (might’ve just missed it) but Singleton broke a bone in his foot this week. Assuming that keeps him from lighting up the combine like he was going to, he might become a late round type rather than mid round.

Insanely blue chip recruit, never met his potential in college but has tools. I know KDawg has talked about him some.

Let’s talk worst case scenarios, because we’re masochists

Let’s say these guys are all gone: Love, Bailey, Bain, Reese, Downs, and the #1 WR (whoever you think that is in that area between Tate, Tyson, Lemon).

What do we do? Depending on how things shake out in the pre-draft process, always a chance the #2 or #3 WR are worthy of that slot, I guess. But also very possible they aren’t.

Let’s also assume we get Tunsil signed, because if we don’t we’ve already flunked the offseason and will be counting down the days till AP is fired anyways. So let’s assume we don’t fumble that.

So what do we do? Again assuming we don’t love a WR there. OL would be batshit. Too early for Styles, really. Top corner?

Downs had all the hype originally but now it seems like a lot of people have him going around 10, etc.

It goes back to what I said that we should get a high level player, no matter what. I would be happy with Downs
Hope he goes at 7 - Downs is so physical & fearless - has the smarts & ability to get to the ball carrier fast - I watched him consistently stop guys dead in their tracks, they know they've been hit when it's Downs - would love watching this dude with us changing the outcomes of games

That's impossible because Mendoza is also on that list so one of those other guys you named will be available at 7, but I guess you said worst-case so anything is possible. Seems like a lot of guys in here aren't sold on any of the WRs though.

The good thing for us is that mostly every mock has Mendoza and the 2 offensive tackles going in the top 6. That means only 3 of the guys we would want should be off the board by the time that we pick.

Good catch, forgot Mendoza! That makes me feel a lot better, though I need to do more research to see how I feel about Bain and Reese in this D we’ll have.

Means even in the potential worst case, we could get our #1 WR if we wanted. Making it not worst case, possibly.

I would take Tyson and ONLY Tyson of the 3 wrs if he were still available, (which considering Mendoza was left out I’m assuming he would be). I’m torn between that and working a small trade back to get Styles.

It’s really close for me. Moderate lean towards Tyson because of the compounding Jayden effects. Styles can’t have that same level of impact OTHER THAN the fact we have no blue chip talents on defense. That is, unless you want to consider Amos fringe blueish.

This won’t happen - but if it did…

Sonny Styles HAS to be considered.

Keldric Faulk, Akheem Mesidor and Mauigoa/Fano are also considerations.

I don’t think OL is batshit there. Mauigoa can kick to guard. We’d be pretty squared away up front for a long time and we’d have insurance if this Tunsil thing lingers.

But it’s not going to happen that way. Someone of Bain, Love, Bailey, Tyson, Tate, Lemon, Downs will be there
