The 2025 Offseason Camp Thread *Tweet HEAVY*

Don't make me take off my belt on Father’s Day…

I’d feel better about it if not for the rallying cry of every Ders fan pouncing that there’s nothing to see here. Historically, when we as fans get riled up to downplay a narrative, the results aren’t great.

“The more people who disagree with me, the more correct I am, actually” is a fun tool to have in the tool belt when needed, I’ll admit

Yeah Deebo has pretty much always been a thicker body type and IIRC he even admitted to putting on some weight last season (which is understandable seeing as how he was battling pneumonia). But it's not like he's in Eddie Lacy or Jamarcus Russel territory. I'm not really too worried about it. DQ talked about forgetting how fast Deebo was and I sort of doubt he's just straight up lying through his teeth.

Who gains weight battling pneumonia?

I've had it, it's not going to help you gain weight.

Here's a more detailed look at how pneumonia can lead to weight loss:

Loss of Appetite:
A significant symptom of pneumonia is a decreased appetite. This can lead to reduced food intake and, consequently, weight loss.

Muscle Weakness:
After a severe bout of pneumonia, lung capacity may be reduced, and muscle weakness can develop due to prolonged illness. This can further contribute to weight loss and physical weakness.
Fatigue:
Many individuals experience fatigue and tiredness during and after pneumonia, which can impact their ability to engage in activities that require energy, such as eating and cooking.
General Body Aches:
Muscle aches and body pain, common during pneumonia, can further contribute to discomfort and reduced appetite, potentially leading to weight loss.
Stress on the Body:
The body's response to pneumonia can be stressful, and this stress can exacerbate existing health conditions and contribute to weight loss.
In severe cases, weight loss can be significant,
even 30 kg in some cases, according to a study.

Are you an elite professional athlete? They keep themselves in relentless shape and monitor their food intake as well as how their bodies are reacting. With pneumonia, workouts basically stop, they'll mostly become sedentary, and it's also quite possible that they'll stop eating quality nutritious food.

I'm not saying that 100% what happened, but you can't really compare yourself to someone who's entire life revolves around being in peak shape.

Hey guys, just want you to know that I saw Deebo at the Golden Corral all you can eat buffet yesterday for Fathers day.... but didn't have my phone on me 🤷‍♂️

But he was drinking diet sodas, so....

Kudos to Deebo for having the restraint to go to an all you can eat buffet and choose to drink instead of eat. Anyone know of any all you can drink buffets in the area where he might be eating?

It seems Deebo has become the team's first trust exercise with Peters.

I'm surprised how many on this board are not willing to fall backwards into Peters arms. So many think Adam Peters is a sucker likely to get fooled. Seriously, the notion that Peters would acquire Deebo, meet him, and then see this flabby, slow, ill disciplined player and then immediately rework his contract because he's such a gullible dupe feels like an indictment against our GM.

I can see someone arguing that they trust Peters but that everyone can have a bad signing, but the man traded for Deebo, met with him, and then reworked his deal. If Deebo is truly a fat, useless slob then that indicates that Peters is a three-time fool in the space of a month. After all, Peters scouted Deebo before the trade. He talked with the man. He met with him before the reworked contract.

I just don't think Peters is that big a sucker.

I saw Deebo with a French menu in his hand
Walking through the streets of DC in the rain
He was looking for a place called Fais-Moi Grossir
Gonna get a whole foie gras and beef tallow

I mean, 'trust' means trust. You either trust that generally speaking Peters knows a hell of a lot more than we do about individual players abilities and potential to contribute, or you don't. The 'of course every GM makes mistakes' caveat - well - okay, yes, we all know that. But a good GM often proves critics wrong and has a lot more hits than misses.

I have no problem with anyone using that caveat, but the funny part is, they always assume that the 'mistake' they believe is a 'mistake' is an example of Peters missing. It may well prove to be a big hit. It is quite possible given his history that he knows what he's doing. Even with Fatso or Sir Limps-A-Lot.

It could be a mistake, but I'd be extremely surprised if it is. This isn't some random swing. Peters scouted and drafted Deebo in 2019. He's seen him play firsthand for years and knows him very well personally. The only way I see it being a mistake is if Peters let his old feelings about Deebo blind him from Deebo not being the same guy now. But that's another thing I find quite unlikely.

Everything was going great until we went out and signed Fatty McFat Fat..... now we're crap again! 😉

It's the Dead part of the offseason.

Did you see all the Fat Boys we hired on the lines? They can probably can pull out hot dogs from their socks in the middle of the game but I don't know if they can pull hard for a sweep

We are now the fattest team in the league. Deebo pushed us up to #1!

I honestly think Lattimore is the bigger candidate for being Peter's first strikeout than Deebo. Deebo didn't even have a bad season in 2024. He still had incredible YAC production, but his separation suffered to to the injuries causing his game shape to take a hit. As far as I am concerned, until I see otherwise, the Deebo we signed, for the role they want him to be, he will be just fine. Lattimore is the player who has yet to really show he is the guy they thought they were getting when they made the trade. Now I know the injuries played a big part and there were some moments he was decent or good even, but with the entire offseason to heal up and study the scheme, the defense is going to be leaning on him to get back to the level of play that made Peters trade for him in the first place.

It would also make Quinn an enormous liar. Something he’s not going to do while building this culture is needlessly praise an out of shape high dollar player, he’d lose his credibility in the locker room. He didn’t have to say any of that to avoid controversy, he wanted to. That means Deebo looks good, in my view.
