On the Kendrick Bourne front, I was curious what had happened, so I found this article. Apparently he's not signing anywhere. My guess is he didn't like the offer in SF, and wants to see if they lose this weekend and they would up the offer out of desperation. The report is the 49ers made him an offer, there isn't a report I can find we did the same, but he's decided to sit out week 1.
He's playing a dangerous game from a contract negotiation perspective, but I guess he's banking on the fact he can get signed at any point he wants, so he's trying to increase his leverage.

I don't underrate it at all. He's Mr. Moxie. He had so much moxie Chase Young was singing his name for the love of Pete.All you say about his talent is true, however I think you underrate the moxie!!
He is all heart and tries extremely hard.
As much crap as I give him, I really wanted him to work out. He just can't. I came to that conclusion sooner than others. A full 2 years sooner than Ron.

Weird that Harbaugh gave him a chance to earn the backup role again after he was already the backup for a year (after trading for him). I’m not familiar with the Chargers offensive scheme, but I would think they use wr screens and throws to the sideline?
They unleashed him last night but last year Herbert was the league’s most overqualified game manager. Very run heavy (no surprise for Harbaugh) even with Herbert pulling the trigger. Think it took 3-4 games for him to throw over 200 yards to start last season.
So I imagine that’s what they envisioned their much more limited backup QB doing
Taylor Heinicke is what happens if you take Colt McCoy and give him even less arm strength. He's very limited in what he can run in an offense because any out route turns into a possible interception and any intermediate shots down the middle turn into murder balls.

More likely it means no team offered him a contract at this stage that would be fully guaranteed. After week 1, it’s not. He’ll probably sign somewhere on Tuesday.
To this day I still find Gruden's love for that dude baffling.

His eye for talent was greatly overstated and he was a bad coach. I don’t find it baffling at all.

But, but, he’s the one that recommended that mid round DT to the front office!!
Yeah he wasn't much of a talent evaluator, but IMO he was actually a pretty good play designer. I remember watching some of the All-22 and the plays looked pretty creative and guys were often getting open. But we didn't have the QB to take advantage of it (and he refused to recognize that fact). And being a good play designer != being a good coach. He wasn't a good coach. (Seriously, how can a head coach allow one of his players to give him a titty twister? Can you imagine someone doing that to DQ? No way in hell)
I could totally see the backwards hat players coach being cool with a purple nurple.
