The 2025 Free Agency Thread

I hope that guy wanted to be back in philly.

I mean, if he patiently bided his time until he was a free agent so he could, lets say for example go somewhere warmer then this trade is a massive slap in the face.

I wonder if Josh has Riveras ring size just in case
I'm not going to do this, because honestly it doesn't matter and my attempt to use AI to do it failed (the machine apocolypse seems to be further out than previously thought...) but I would be interested to see how many Rivera draft picks are even in the league.

Given his earliest draft was 2020, that group would be entering their 6th season. That's not THAT long ago. How many have actually gotten second contracts? How many have been cut from multiple teams?

I am sure somebody with more time than I do could put some analytics around worst draft classes ever based on not just current team retention, but NFL retention. The Rivera 2020 draft might be the worst in the history of the NFL, absent oddities like the Saints trading all of their picks for Ricky Williams, and things like that.

But I know skinsinparadise is on call to hand deliver Ron's ring to him because of how well he set up the franchise. Ron's biggest fan, SIP is..

I'd think AP would be open to hearing what anyone has to offer. However, I don't see anyone wanting to put themselves into the position to Commanders are currently in with Terry's delusional contract request
it is delusional, but if Terry is full merc mode, then there may be a situation where a team considers them crazy in need and ready to mortgage the future.
If Terry is full merc mode, and AP is sick of it....

I guess it could happen. It would depend on other teams' situations and the way they want to manage the future, I would assume.

Trying to find a way to say you wanted the bigger payday without saying it, so ends up talking himself in circles 😂 I don’t know if our interest in him was reported at the time, so I figured I’d post it

What do you mean? I thought it was very clear. The Commanders are a championship team, so why do they need good players? Teams that are predicted to be really good, why should they have more good players?

Sound logic. Also, maybe, a slap in the face to his current team.

Well played. Getting me back for all the VOR is Jay's biggest fan.

Jay actually would go to the Hall of Fame ironically if his FO prowess matched up to Ron.

Ron might be the worst evaulator in the history of the game. I find it ironic how much he touted Bufflao's operation when he got here, then let other teams including the Giants take Buffalo's FO people -- while he loaded his FO with failed retreads from other offices -- shocking it didn't work for him.

Yeah Keim said about Lawrence in the off season, Washington only offered him one season. He got the better offer elsewhere.

I'd add for Ron, and I've mentioned this before, if he had one ounce of humility about his tenure it would age IMO so much better. It's part of the reason why Jay has regained some ground with fans from what I've noticed -- not that they embrace his tenure but it aged well compared to Ron for starters and as a dude he comes off likeable.

While we got Ron peddiling in interviews that Quinn thanked him for setting him up for the success he had -- and also using Greg Olsen to parrot that nonsense on a broadcast about Ron's "roster" setting up this teams success. You would think its a joke but apparently he actually believes this nonsense.

It’s probably been mentioned elsewhere but Phil Mathis (Jets) and Khaleke Hudson (Titans) have both also been dumped in the last few days. That’s a whole lot of Ron picks in the FA pool.

Maybe God told him to sign in Seattle. What an idiot.

Also, RonMart sucks.

^ Aaron is on to something there, eff Ron!

I completely get it, but looking back on that period of time.... who in there right mind was thinking, let's put Ron Rivera in charge of EVERYTHING?

"Coach-centric" was code for "I have no-****ing clue"

The more time has passed, I'm more inclined to file Ron away in the Jim Zorn drawer. Is it their fault that our moronic owner, whose vast knowledge of telemarketing, lead him to believe that he was smarter than everyone else?

Yeah, you lost me (or convinced me) at "who in their right mind"

Indeed. It really is stunning how poor Ron the GM was. Guys like Cosmi and Quan Martin are the rare exception. But maaaan. B-Rob - traded away just now. Howell - all he does is get traded. Davis, Mathis, Hudson, etc all looking for work. AGG (who I stupidly had some hope for retired). I expect Cole Turner will get cut. Curl seems to be a "fine" safety in LA. And there are guys like BSJ, Forbes and Dyami who are in the league, but nothing to write home about.

AP had and still has a lot to dig out from.
