The 2025 Free Agency Thread

But, I think he's been dissapointing. I hate to say this with @Voice_of_Reason lurking :p but Thor actually nailed it about that pick at the time -- just a really average at best back who doesn't do anything remarkably well. I had higher hopes for Brian than Thor.
I never said that bloviating self important ass hat never got things right.

He gets some things right. He got that right.

Good for him. He deserves a cookie. And not just any cookie, but a double chocolate chipper warmed up. So yummy.

He kept betting against Rivera and his drafts. Annoying at the time. But lol, betting against Rivera was an easy bet.

As a draft analyist he's not one of my favs.

We can take this to the Media thread, but my problem with him was never his analysis. It was his overconfidence and lack of humility, and arrogance that if you deviated from his board, you were an idiot. And the "the NFL got it wrong" with Malik Willis was just the absolutely stupidest thing I think I've heard a media member say in decades. And I used to listen to Chris Russell on occasion, so that is a high bar to cross....

What is ironic is the same could be said for Mel Kiper, who I love, but his analysis has never been his strong point. I dunno. Maybe it's just that Mel was first and is an icon and should be in the HOF that sets him apart. Also, Mel's hair is iconic.

I admit I have been fantasizing about Rodriguez and Bill becoming our thunder and lightning combo by next year. One concern is not knowing how Bill would hold up as a featured back at his weight, don’t know but I do wish he weighed a bit more if they are sending him straight up the middle on multiple carries. RB by committee might make more sense.

I also don’t recall much about Rodriguez in the passing game, can he pass block and at least catch simple lobs on occasion a la Bates or Is he really that bad that the other team knows it’s a run when he is in? Not saying he’s good, just curious as to where the info on his deficiencies came from; camp reports, watching him in games or what?

Just an idea but if Peters could turn Brob for Romeo Doubs it would suddenly make our wr room look alot different. Been reading alot that the pack are loaded at wr and Doubs seems to be the odd man out. Behind Jacobs they dont have alot and Marshon Lloyd just can't stay healthy. This trade may help both teams.

Great idea and I would make that deal in two seconds. Doubs is a reliable X and I’d probably prefer him to Brown if I’m being honest. Emmanuel Wilson is a steady backup RB though so not sure GB would go for it.

Signing Fant was a little surprising. I was thinking the next signing might be a WR. Well, roster cut downs are right around the corner if it doesn't come from an unlikely BRob trade

I was looking for us signing Noah Fant even tho i knew he was on the Bangals. I guess some no name O Lineman. probably a camp body.

He’s not a no name, he’s a longtime journeyman level guy, serviceable. If he’s healthy he’ll make the team

Imagine Trent Scott and him in running routes at the same time. Heavy jumbo receiver package. Awesome potential.
Actually, have both of them run puts, the defense will freak out and double cover both of them and that would leave a wide open void in the middle of the defense for a QB scramble for a TD.

Because you can’t leave Trent Scott in single coverage. It’s a total mismatch

(Not posting this due to Terry, he’s going nowhere imo)

I'd think AP would be open to hearing what anyone has to offer. However, I don't see anyone wanting to put themselves into the position to Commanders are currently in with Terry's delusional contract request

CRod better thank BRob. JMO. IF given the chance, I think he can bull out a lot of yards. He gets better with more carries as the game goes on.
Been a long time since I've been out here on BGO and it's nice to see AP and the FO and coaching staff finally coming around to CRod instead of BRob.

Montrell Washington is intriguing

I find it interesting that they did this today rather than waiting. I guess, if you know then you know, and it does help the players. And their preseason is over, so they don't need to keep anybody to fill out the roster for the last game.

Our preseason schedule stunk like the south end of a north bound skunk. The Monday Night game followed quickly by a late in the preseason Saturday game.

Barf.
