Look at all of that in contrast to Evans and Godwin actually hitting FA, taking lesser deals to come back, including Godwin turning down 30 million from NE. Both talking about how much they love being in Tampa and want to win there.

Then you got Terry saying various things about how the team doesn't value him, making fun of them considering his age a factor, dancing with asking to be traded, referencing in multiple ways he should be compensated in part for being a good solider. People can say for example Sutton saying he took less, may or may not be true -- but i loved him speaking about winning in Denver and helping them keep players and he didn't want to get in the way of that.

There is none of that from Terry. Terry is all about Terry in this context. And again, most players are, I don't blame them for it. But for Terry to say he's different. He's not that different when you factor how he approaches contracts. Evans is different. Godwin. Maybe Sutton. Josh Allen. L. David. On and on. Players who give some and talk about the team in the context of their own money at stake.

Heck even Daron Payne, I liked his recent comments about how he's not worried about money, he's got all the money he'd ever need, he wants to win.

exactly . . . you could franchise him twice and not get to what he is asking for . . . think about that, lol . . . 3 more years and his only choice would be to quit/retire . . . or play as the team wants.
 
True, but there is no point in looking that far ahead.

Terry is a good player but he is hardly irreplaceable for Washington and Peters.

The team needs Terry in 2025 but I would expect going into his age 31 season in 2026 that Peters will be looking to take a wide receiver with one of his top picks to play on the outside.

The receivers that tend to perform into their 30's are ones like Anquan Boldin that are 6'4 and 220 and can use their size and catch radius to remain very productive.

The receivers that don't translate well after 30 are those that lack ideal size and depend upon speed to give them an edge.

In broad strokes I would copy what Kansas City has done.

You find the franchise quarterback and then build around him with draft picks, developing UDFAs and veterans willing to come in at reasonable cost who 'up' the professionalism of the organization.

KC started off with more building blocks as Snyder left the cupboard here almost bare, but a similar strategy seems on tap from Peters.

Peters realizes the quarterback will need to get paid and the balance of the roster if to be successful ultimately has to be younger with draft picks on rookie contracts OR veterans on shorter term deals.

There are the exceptions. Chris Jones is one of the best DTs in the NFL and has been for years. So, he got a big deal in addition to Mahomes.

McDuffie also was an all pro performer at a hard to find position, cover corner, so he got paid.

This year Trey Smith at OG and Karlaftis at DE received an extension.

But in order to make all these deals possible Reid ultimately let guys like Tyreek Hill, L'Jarius Sneed, Orlando Brown Jr, Tyran Matthieu, Willie Gay and other high performing vets go in trades or in free agency.

It's the nature of the beast.
 


Getting this out there now, if he’s cut (has missed lots of time with injuries and undergone a regime change since being drafted) I’d be interested in getting Jelani Woods in here. The ceiling is insane and these huge athletes sometimes take years to figure out how to take care of their bodies in the league in a way that works for them. Martellus Bennett was one

That's a catch.

And I agree with you, if he's cut, he's worth a look.

Where do you put him while he settles in? Sinnott isn't going to the practice squad with Yankoff. 4 TEs seems excessive. I agree he'd be a great cheap pick up as a long shot full of potential.

You carry 4 TEs, or if he's cut, you might be able to put him on the PS until somebody inevitably gets hurt.

You’re right, it’s a tough fit in that regard. Especially since it feels like we may keep 4 RB’s. I’d really try to find a way, though. Difficult without an injury or giving up on Sinnott who you’re right, isn’t getting given up on

If Peter’s can get something for him it would be amazing. Not a great back. Always injured and zero vision.
 
I give Robinson credit for being tough, coming back from that gunshot wound, having a positive attitude, etc., but he never really proved he could be a feature back. As our starting back he’s only averaging about 4 ypc and 700 yards per season, and I think he’s only had five 100-yard games in his career. In sum I would say he’s competent but not great. I doubt we can get much value in a trade, but I think we can and should upgrade the position.
