I think he's saying people should stop claiming that Terry is top 10 or top 11. I mean, it's pretty obvious considering we just compared him to a highlight video clip of a UDFA doing a 1 foot Lambeau Leap into the crowds after a DB whiffed his tackle. If they're to be compared, Terry's somewhere in the top 70 at WR, though if we find the right NCAA coach poll, it would probably be top 71.

Not worried about AP losing respect for Terry. He was there for Deebo during his second contract drama. Still traded for him. He saw what was happening with Aiyuk last season and still had interest in trading for him last year. I think you are trying to read minds too much.
 
This season there is the potential for Terry to be the 4th best receiver in the NFCE alone as I am expecting Malik Nabers to surpass him, even with Russell Wilson running the NYG offense.
 
In addition to ring chasers, it sure looks like the Commanders will be able to attract cap casualties from other teams.

Especially at WR, like Deebo Samuel, even though it was technically a trade. He’s on a one-year deal, newly guaranteed. If he indeed “proves it” with JD5 and company, he’ll either be extended on a team friendly deal, like N. Brown, or cash in with another team, like Zaccheaus and D. Brown.

Although they can’t rely on a top tier player coming available, like DJax back in the day, this consideration would mitigate the potential loss of McClaurin while they try to grow their draftees.

Yes or great franchises get ahead of hold outs by signing these type players earlier in their contract than waiting. This franchise has made that effort but it appears they are dealing with a difficult agent. I can recall teams avoiding past UFA's that were signed with known difficult agents. Since this situation can't be avoided, it will be prolonged and may not end as desired for both parties.
 
Not to instigate or derail this thread, but what is Terry's trade value if we decide to move on from him? Just wondering.

At best, a second. But that relies on timing and a desperate team. Most likely a 3rd. It's not worth it.

Remember we got Deebo (worse narrative surrounding him currently) for a 5th. Age really factors into trade value.

Amari Cooper went for a 3rd and maybe a 7th or something. That was before people really figured out he was washed, and the Bills did it because they were desperate.
 
Terry was pretty great last year. And did come up huge in huge games and in crunch time. Almost saved us that Dallas game. Helped break open the Lions game. Mossed somebody for the catch that won the second Dallas game. He’s super valuable. And I want him back. His deep ball tracking and contested catch skills are special.

But, we can’t ink a contract that is going to be terrible 2 seasons from now. Unless teams win the Super Bowl, I feel like they always regret that.
 
I would unless there is a backstory to it beyond the cap savings. Arguably there is no backup to Ertz as to a pass catching TE in the roster. Maybe Sinnott but that's still an unknown.

Fant hasn't lived up to his freakish potential but his flashes are better as a pass catching TE than any TE on the roster aside from Ertz.

Giants are going to be one of the worst teams in football and the coach and GM will be fired mid season

That is why you front end load it - do the pay in reverse - more now less at the end

And he's just 27 and athletic enough to get down the seam. With our current TE group, and Ertz's age, we were definitely going to have to sign one in FA or draft one pretty high next year. This would help alleviate some of that pressure. Ertz was also remarkably healthy last year. He's likely to revert to missing some games, and you're right. There is nobody behind him that can just step in.
