On the flip side of that coin, though, would you trade Ladd McConkey, Mike Sanristil, Cooper Dejean, Jackson Powers Johnson, Cooper Beebe? They're also 2nd round picks, so it's a gamble. I don't think it's a gamble we can make right now.

He had 13.5 sacks the last year in NO after they moved him to DE from LB. New Orleans is just dumb. 🤣
Right. Draft picks are not a sure thing - but when you hit on them they change the trajectory of your roster.
I’d be reluctant to trade any more picks from this year and next year. We only have 5 picks this year and 5 next.
Would prefer to sign one of the two older sack artist out there for a year

If we traded our 1st for Hendrickson (I don't think AP will), I'd hope we get back Cincy's 3rd round this year and not their 4th.

The QB window is 2 more seasons, there's no way AP and the crew can get enough draft pics, develop them, and stay competitive. The Eagles have been drafting and using free agency the way they do for 15+ years. It's going to take 3 or 4 years to start the momentum and get enough draft picks in here to fully transition this team.
The only we can be competitive during these next 2 years is using free agency and trades.
I agree that it won't happen but if it did I'd be doing cartwheels.
We're already low on draft picks because of all the trades and to get an elite pass rusher and gain a pick in the process would be awesome.
It's not like we have a top ten pick this year it's not much better than an early 2nd.

I agree that we should be using FA. We're signing cast offs to one year deals, not over paying studs while we have the cash.
Next year we'll be signing 20 cast offs to one year deals, because we drafted less guys. We're kicking the talent window down the road.
We'll continue having a high turn over roster when we need to pay Daniels if we continue to trade away picks.
The Eagles were able to trade away talent they drafted and load up on picks, which they then used to get more talent.
The Philadelphia Eagles currently have 20 draft picks over the next two NFL Drafts:

Too bad we weren't lousy last year. We would not have this dilemma.
And it gets worse, I don't believe we have a 3rd round pick this year.
If.im not mistaken we traded one of our 3rds for lattimore and the other for tunsil, but we did get Texans 4th out of the deal.
I was only using them as a reference because eventually that's what we want to be, but you're right, there's no comparison but in 5 years you may see AP in a situation where he can parlay talent we can't keep into draft picks.

I understand the sentiment that it feels like AP is microwaving the roster. I think we all envisioned deep, all-star draft classes to rebuild this roster.
But two things happened that didn’t jive with one another. Ron left the pantry with nothing in it. AP drafted wagyu filet mignon in Jayden. They simply cannot go about building the menu the old fashioned way as a result.

The roster absolutely needs more draft picks this year and next. They also need most all of them to contribute and some from last year kick it in gear. We can't afford many misses and we can't afford to have a roster filled with one year FA's.

One of the reasons the Eagles *have* to do what they are doing is they have their QB on a full contract along with a couple of other guys. It's also why they feel comfortable to pay some of their guys big $$ right now. They have plenty of draft picks in upcoming drafts.
We have a different situation. Apples and oranges. We will have some good chances to hit a home run early in JD's career, and then I imagine they know they cannot do anything even close to this by 2027 or so when they will be forced to shift to a different strategy if they plan to keep JD and field a good team (and I don't think JD wants to stay otherwise).

I'd trade for Hendrickson in a heartbeat for our 2nd round pick. After that I would do what I've suggested a bunch and that's trade down as many times as I could slowly from 29 down to between 45-60.
Accumulate as many picks between 45-125 as possible bobbing and weaving between selecting players and additional trade downs for both this year and next years picks. I think we can pull it off even factoring in the slight discount of teams knowing we need to trade down. I think the key is to not go too far down too fast.. Peters is a G, I feel great he will set us up for success no matter what.

I am glad that it doesn't appear AP is going to trade for Hendrickson. It is a deep draft class and I just would not expend the draft picks at this point.
To me, it is ALWAYS about the acquisition of talent. The Birds and Chiefs win because they consistently draft well, and fill needs with quality FA picks. The Birds, IMHO, had by far the best off season last year both FA and drafting. When you consistently draft well you can let players walk, get a comp pick, and continue to win. My only question for them is all those voidable year contracts. Does that mean they are pushing the window down the road and the bill will come do?
AP has to hit consistently on a majority of his picks these first couple of years to replace the lack of talent on the roster. Those lower round picks from last year need to see the field and produce this year.
I am pleased so far, as others have pointed out, with acquisitions. You have to stay within budget, don't overpay for older players, and field the best team possible.
Of all Ron's failed draft picks, not getting CB Gonzales (NE) in his last draft is the worst. That would have solved are DB issue and allowed us to focus on other areas. For some reason I am still upset about it.
And, I believe AP is done except filling holes/roster competition and looking for players cut during the summer like we did with Brown last year. He has to find replacements for T. Scott and M. Deiter.
