The 2025 Free Agency Thread

It’s not the end all be all but his PFF scores leave a whole lot to be desired. Only 1 int in his career. This will be his 3rd team and a struggling Saints secondary decided to let him walk. Maybe all the chips haven’t fallen yet and he’s just depth
He has 3 career INT's and some fumble recoveries.

I think it is also fair to wait & see how some of the players we sign are used versus how they were being used by previous coaches. Washington under Snyder was notorious for signing players who excelled at specific things elsewhere and then tried to change their position/responsibilities once signed here. I am hoping that with the new front office & coaching staff they are working on the same page about why they are targeting certain players that might not "wow" the fans at the time of the signings.

Also, I still think a lot of the work being done through FA are for shorter term gap-filling roles while AP still ultimately builds the core through the draft. You are never going to have enough draft picks to rebuild an entire roster in a couple offseasons. That is going to be a longer term plan, but FA will be used in the short term to keep things moving along.

something tells me that's not the last time Floyd is mentioned in this thread....

Pretty obvious that there is a theme to the offseason for WSH - that being acquiring guys who fit into what they want the identity of this team to be.

Samuel, Bates, Kinlaw, and Harris are all really physical football players.

One thing is for certain - WSH ain’t being pushed around moving forward.

Boys lock up their special teams ace for 6 mill per year. What is happening in this league when special teamers make 6 per year?

I’m disappointed to see Chinn go. He was second only to Wagner in tackles last year. Maybe Harris fills that hole?

I think we should bring back Mariota, he is the ideal backup for Daniels, similar history (2nd overall pick, Heismann trophy) and skill set (mobile, option QB), played well against Dallas, and a model teammate/mentor. It is good to have that veteran presence in the room, and I believe he could win us some games if called upon.

I like Chinn too, I would have liked to have had him back too, but not at the $ the Raiders paid him…. I do think Harris will fill the void nicely though… and got him alot cheaper too

Washington is moving on from Chinn IMO because they believe he wasn't worth the money and a player of similar profile and ability had already been identified.

2 years and $16M was not going to break the bank here if Peters really felt that Chinn was going to ascend to be one of the best DBs in the NFL.

Very pleased with the approach taken by the FO. No reaching or overspending, and we got a legit, bona fide LT and several players who fit what the team is building. Way to go AP, keep on keepin' on!
