The 2025 Free Agency Thread

I'm out. Lots of chatter about Javon Holland joining Commanders on social media outlets. We shall see.

I can see that. lavar would be in my top 3 or 4...still I felt like I saw more from lavar over a longer period than one flukey 7-9 playoff season from chase. I know he won rookie of the year but, in retrospect, I dunno if it was really that special.
 
What sucks is, the stupid Browns took Lucas AND they gave the STUPID Eagles a 5th rounder+ backup qb for Kenny Pickett (backup qb).

So they hurt us in a couple of ways, is how I interpret that.
 
Bummed to have lost Chinn and Lucas. Lucas has been a safety blanket whenever someone goes out. I'm guessing he left because of the second year. We probably were offering him one. Peters does love him some one year deals and Lucas wanted a little more stability. No bad feelings though. I wish him well.
 
It is funny. All offseason we kept hearing how Washington was suddenly a destination for free agents. I have no idea who we wanted and how close our offers were, but it doesn't seem to have panned out that way. Hopefully, on that second tier of free agency, we do get some destination love.

Takes two to tango burgold. Us not signing guys doesn’t equate to players not seeing us as a desirable destination. Peters rep is as a guy who likes to wait and let all of the overpaying and panic moves to be made right out of the gate by other GMs. The next week is where he is expected to shine.
 
I think the whole “guys lining up to play here” narrative is blown out of proportion anyways.

#1 will always be money in some capacity.

What having a coach that guys respect, and a QB does for a team is makes them an option.

We used to not even be an option for most, because if the money is the same - there are better destinations.

Okay, I was complaining a little about losing Cosmi and Chinn :)
 
Love our additions of Tunsil, Kinlaw and Deebo in three major positions of need.

Losing Lucas isn't great, but we have Coleman and Wylie to compete as a swing (and can draft another tackle).

Losing Chinn is a big deal, but I wonder if Forrest is potentially growing and can step in as well. Holland would be a great addition, but he's going to be costly. Is the team wanting to spend that much on a safety? Maybe. We'll see what they think about Forrest soon.

Interested to see what, if anything, we do at Edge. I have a feeling they are going to try to make something big happen there (but may fail).

Corner is another position that we need depth signings at the very least, so I expect some CB activity.
 


Do we feel better about Kinlaw now?

Personally, I do. Three years younger, more upside and room to develop after coming off his best season as a pro, and not on the back nine of his career like Allen.
 
Tunsil led OL or the league in penalties last year. We will blame that on the dysfunction of the Texans OL. But, its worth a mention in case anyone is wondering how we landed him.

About Coleman's poor PFF rankings at LT, can anyone remember even one time JD5 got his blindside clock cleaned because Coleman fucked up?
 
I was listening to Keim this morning on the Junkies.

A. This team wasn't a fan of the deals made yesterday around the league. They plan to be active in stage B of FA where they expect better value

B. Keim doesn't know but is guessing Coleman more likely to go RT than guard

C. Speculated that they have plans for Kinlaw that might be different than how other teams used him -- perhaps as a run stuffing edge.

Kinlaw is going to be moved around. It's how I'd use him.

He is really versatile. He can rush from inside fairly well. He has good length. He can set an edge. He is an incredible athlete.

Kinlaw, if he stays healthy, is going to be a major addition.
