Imma need someone to explain how Kinlaw, who appears by most metrics (except height) to be worse than Ford, got 15M more and 5M more per year.

Like I trust AP and Quinn and assume there's a method to this madness but someone gotta explain bc the 5D chess looks like checkers to me.

Kinlaw is more of the physical prototype. 6'5, 325, 35" arms to stack and shed OL. Poona Ford is 6'0, 300, 32" arms.

I think it's really clear, especially from the last draft, that this front office does weight physical characteristics higher than others.

I don't think Kinlaw move says anything about Newton.

You've got 200% of total snaps to distribute to your DTs and that's assuming you're not using any 3 DT sets. Forcing guys into 90+% of snaps is a good way to get a guy injured over the course of a season and just winded a bunch in a game. 66% of snaps each ain't nothing and keeps them fresher.

It tells me they wanted a more stout guy than Newton. Pure speculation of course but who can say no for sure. And no one thinks DL should could or would ever take 90% of the snaps in the modern game.

I don't have an issue with them thinking KInlaw as a player may be growing into his elite measurables. I still just feel like 3 years and $45 million is an awful big bet.
