The 2025 Free Agency Thread

Had his best season by far, last year. Maybe the đź’ˇwent off. Trying to be optimistic.

I'm going to give Kinlaw the benefit of the doubt. I think everyone sucked on the Jets last year. The fact that he did anything (4.5 sacks is pretty good for a DT) may be a good sign. I'm thinking 2024 for the Jets was like 2023 for the 'skins. Tough to judge on that year alone.

Okay, I will give Peter's a call and let him know he needs to do his homework.

Part of me says "Adam Peters drafted Kinlaw, so he knows him better than others"

The other part of me says "Adam peters declined Kinlaw's 5th year option in 2023 and let him walk"

Very weird signing to me.

Why does it feel like we got worse with this signing. How does that happen?

Kinlaw. 3 technqiue

I'd presume Quinn pushed for it. Maybe he doesn't know what he's doing. But considering how much they killed FA last year, I'll trust it for now.

Picking up the slack in the middle is, surprisingly, Javon Kinlaw. Boasting 5 pressures on 44 pass-rush snaps, the free agent pickup has an 11.4% pressure rate, ranking in the 78th percentile among interior defensive linemen. His 17.1% pass rush win rate ranks in the 92nd percentile.

Those wins are showing up on film, too. He may not have any sacks yet, but he is affecting the quarterback all the same.

I expected us to grab a gap plugger at DT if we went that route, maybe they see someone in the draft who will help our poor run defense.

Godwin is likely going to be damaged goods for a part of the year IMHO - glad we avoided him.

But not to ink Kinlaw at that price tag. Give me Godwin on one leg instead. Or Phil Mathis.

He's appears to blowup the backfield in the running game of the opposing teams drawing double teams. I'm sure AP will have some positive things to say about him.

I am going to take some time to figure this one out. He seems like he will be good at collapsing the pocket. I am going to watch Jets games, later.
