The 2025 Free Agency Thread

You are not alone at all. Way is a good punter. He is old and far from the best in the league.
I'm happy that unlike at kicker he is there game in and game out. The one constant in the entire kicking game. Hes getting towards the end of his shelf life but its one less thing for a team that's just finding it's way to worry about.

Really disappointed to see the tweets from Dante Fowler (also heard Dyami Brown had re-tweeted Dante's frustrated tweets). I'm guessing that neither of them come back now. Was optimistic for Fowler, less so for Dyami.

Oh well, I'm more a fan of stocking up on young talent despite the narrative that we have a narrow window to win while Jayden is on his rookie deal.
Not my style on how to handle it but to a degree I totally get it too, and he (Dante) is 100% correct… ppl on this board and the national ppl all seem to want Sweat who (played along side some big time studs on that Eagles DL and he only had 8 sacks… Fowler played half the snaps and had that… so how he handled it w/the tweets isn’t cool really, but the thought behind it was/is 100%

Never a good idea to respond to negotiations on social media (IF that's in fact what he was doing). If I'm an agent, I'm doing everything I can to keep my clients from doing it. It's not a good look for the player either to his current employer or prospective ones.

With the money being thrown around with these new contracts I just believe it has to stop at some point. Can only imagine what Daniels will get with his next deal.

It won’t stop unless the cap stops going up, which requires media contracts to restrict. Despite putting games on every shitty streaming service known to man and making it tough on fans, NFL media deals are the biggest in the land. Would probably require a serious retraction in legal gambling profits to wrench that backwards. So maybe a recession would do it, who knows.

But for now the money in this league keeps getting bigger, so the players’ slice of the pie keeps getting proportionally bigger. And QB’s earn and eat the biggest bite of that slice.

Fowler is just horribly bad in run D. The long TD from Barkley to open the NFCCC was ALL ON HIM. He got blown off the line so far that it actually prevented Wagner from having a shot at making the tackle. I wouldnt hate Fowler back as a rotational player to spell a real DE. But he is not being undervalued at all.

Agree.....unless your top tier like a MG, seems to work when you know your elite at your position.

Regarding Dyami, at the risk of sounding super obvious... he did nothing until everyone was hurt (as you stated) and did nothing until we got Daniels. There is a category of WR that can produce when placed with an elite QB (just look at the Randos that Brady, Manning, and Brees elevated). It still requires a good deal of work and skill.... but it's also a category of player that is generally available for a modest price. There are probably 10+ out there in FA right now, maybe more.

Also, we can attribute it to Dyami fully “buying in” to the new culture, but the truth is he didn’t discover an above average NFL work ethic until he was in a contract year. Not something our brain trust may covet in a depth player.

Edge rusher is a spot we are trying to upgrade, so I’m sure he’s worth more to another team than he is to us. It’s just business, not a respect thing, if the team made him an offer he considers lowball. They shouldn’t have to buy his respect. This team took him in last year and put him in a position to get the contract he’s going to get. After seeing that tweet, zero chance I would want him back at any price.

No, it’s not. He’s a 30 year old role player who can’t defend the run, who got most of his sacks off of clean-up duty due to scheme. I’d take him back but he not anything close to 100% correct about his dumbass comments. He’s a rotational player who thinks his sack numbers cracking double digits are all that matter in regards to getting paid good money. You haven’t had enough of those egos with mediocre talent at EDGE?

My concerns with Dyami have always been the same. He has at best average hands, and for someone that gets a lot of opportunities, his production has been sub-par. 2024 was supposedly some 'breakout' year and he had, what - 30 receptions? And that's more than double his previous best. That's just anemic.

Fowler is a nice player but he’s not a stud.
Agreed but he’s better than Josh Sweat who had Studs all around him as to where Fowler didn’t and managed to get 2.5 more sacks … my entire point wasn’t to say Fowler is a stud or should be resigned, it was simply to agree w/him as to ppl thinking Josh Sweat is the premier PR on the FA market ….when he’s not… sweat has only managed to get double digits sacks 1 time in his career…

Sweat is elite in run defense. Something this team needs badly.
