The 2025 Free Agency Thread

Interested to see the $$$ guaranteed. Great blocking TE but hasn't really produced much in the way of pass catching.

There was a play where he executed his route perfectly down in the Redzone and Jayden was slow to get to him, ended up seeing it too late as he rolled to the flat. I don't think he's totally useless in the pass game, he's just never been even in the top 5 when it comes to target share.

I figure there are a bunch of teams that will be pissed we resigned Bates. Kinda like we have been pissed about other teams resigning players we coveted.

I surely don't mind Bates back but hopefully we can find a pass catching TE to work with along with Ertz now that we have resigned him whether in the draft or free agency.

Guessing something like 3/18 with 8 guaranteed

Edit: altered this after seeing the OTC details for Tremble + Hooper deals

I'm curious as well. I noticed late last season that it seemed that the offense was attempting 5o get him more involved in the passing game. Wasn't sure if it was to give Ertz a breather or if it was designed to see if he could contribute more.

Glad he's back though. Guy is a helluva blocker and a hard nosed SOB. Like the move.

HTTR!

Tress is the first guy I thought would be resigned. Lucas was up there pretty high on that list too before Chinn

He is not going to be particularly expensive and is still solid. I was questioning whether they’d pursue him because he is not the mover he used to be. I like it

We also have a leg up. I think he still lives in the area. Logan trains/trained him

Really disappointed to see the tweets from Dante Fowler (also heard Dyami Brown had re-tweeted Dante's frustrated tweets). I'm guessing that neither of them come back now. Was optimistic for Fowler, less so for Dyami.

Oh well, I'm more a fan of stocking up on young talent despite the narrative that we have a narrow window to win while Jayden is on his rookie deal.

to be fair to him, we don't know if he was referencing the team

It would make sense to connect those dots, but it's also not totally clear at the moment.

I think the dumb tweets are in reference to fan/media and social media chatter

He’s an idiot though. “Half the snaps and the same stats as the players y’all are dickriding” shows someone who does not value his role against the run at all—and it shows. Guy thinks sacks are all that matter. And doesn’t seem to understand he’s a rotational player for a reason

I think Tress Way signs before official free agency starts. This is probably just his agent not wanting to be too eager to sign.

I think Dyami Brown gets a contract from some other team larger than this front office is willing to pay. He played well down the stretch and my guess is someone liked that and will pay him for it.

As for Fowler, players going off on social media always comes across as immature. He’s a veteran that has bounced around the league. He should know how the NFL works by now.

About Tress Way not being signed yet, maybe punter is less a priority with a prolific offense that goes for it on fourth down so often. I’d still like to have him back though, he’s our longest tenured player and one of the best in the league, and having a left-footed punter is an advantage.

I’m glad to see John Bates return, he is solid in his role as a blocker and sneaky good receiver.

Way will be back, I think. He probably wants a bit more $$$ and he'll get it on multi-year deal.

I also wonder if they haven't talked to Tress and told him to just hold tight

Way will make more than this, but relevant:

Tress probably wants around $5 mill a year on a 2 or 3 year deal. Here's his last deal.
