I don't think AP is going to sit around waiting for Cincy to trade Hendrickson when Noon hits tomorrow. I'd think that teams interested in TH will want a trade consummated before that time. Tick, tock, tick, tock.
 
Fowler is likely in for a rude awakening if he's hoping for huge money. Deep edge FA class and deep draft class, so he's way down the list in terms of getting paid. Might be a "go test the market and come back if you don't like what you see" situation. I could see Peters offering like 10 over 2 and him wanting like 30 over 3.
 
I am sure it is going to be a very busy start to FA tomorrow. That all said, where we were at this time two seasons ago hasn’t been lost on me. We were easily a bottom five roster in the NFL. It might not be the popular opinion given that we ascended to the NFC Championship game last year, but I would like a smart and calculated approach to FA spending. Acquire guys on the rise and mostly entering their prime years to allow this machine with Jayden at the helm to be a 10-12 year winning operation. The Mack’s and Hendrickson’s of the world are your “one piece away” fixes. A lot broke our way in 2024 and momentum broke in our favour. Stay the course, keep building, and focus on sustained success.

The downstream effects of Garrett will play out over the coming weeks, months, and years, but it's a huge jump, 4.5M AAV beyond Crosby's extension. Obviously this directly impacts a Hendrickson deal, but he might still be worth the 30+M he wants. Guy's a monster and good DL players tend to have long careers (see Mack, Miller, Calais "older than dirt" Campbell) so a 130M/4 might not be the worst thing in the world.

But if Cinci follows thru with their promise to Chase, then the WR market is gonna jump.

Personally, I'd love to make Terry a lifer. Would be fine with like a 5 year deal that gives us some flexibility into years 4 and 5. Moss played until he was 35 and slowly took on less work as he aged. Terry could probably do the same, slowly shift into a #2 role and eventually into a #3/4 role player kind of guy.

No "goes to the Jets for his last hurrah" kind of thing, keep him here. I don't see any reason we can't get him into the 10,000 yard club.

Bates...I don't know what his market is. As a blocking tight end, his market def isn't what move tight ends get, but is it 3M/y? 4M? 5!?

Chinn I've mentally bookmarked as an 8M/year contract. I dunno if they pull that trigger with some of the options out there.

I wonder what all this does for Fowler. He's a good pass rusher, but that's all he is, can't set the edge, so how much does that cost?

Tommy Tremble just got 8 per. Bates is going to be a rich man, his skillset isn’t sexy but coaches value it—and it’s difficult to develop or expect from a young guy in the draft. Easier to find jumbo slot receiver type TEs on rookie contracts, than top tier blockers. These guys always get overpaid and it always feel random as hell—but it isn’t, it’s a pattern

Fowler is utterly mediocre. He mostly got his sacks based on scheming this season. Not sure if he's truly delusional or just whining.

PRWR: 12.6%
Sacks: 11th
Hurries: 34th
Hits: 70th
Total Pressures: 38th
Pass Rush Snaps: 56th

So not only is he purely a situational pass rusher who doesn't play a ton of snaps, but he also isn't that good when he does play. He's also horrid against the run (PFF grade of 50) so while guys like Hendrickson and Sweat are only "decent" against the run (TH was at 65.9), they can at least be serviceable doing it whereas Fowler is an immediate liability.

yeah i don't know why he's losing his mind. He's not on the same level as the guys getting big time contracts today, and all he has done now is alienate himself.

He had 10.5 sacks, but he was clearly not a premier player in the league. Obviously we will likely never know what we offered, but if anything this front office revived his career and bought him more time in the league. I hope the shot he took wasn't directed at the FO, but hard to know where else it would have been pointed.

The worst thing this front office could do is feel like this team has arrived. Alot of things broke this team's way last season despite canyon sized deficiencies on the roster.
Feel confident that Peters knows this and acts accordingly. Wish they had more picks in rounds 3-6.

Plus DQ has been providing a job for him for years and wherever he moves to.
Definitely a frustrating quote, one that makes you question what his deal is
 
I think his frustration was more with twitter criticism. He probably should stay off it. LOL
