The 2025 Free Agency Thread

Marquise Brown resigned KC. One of our potential targets.
So glad they didn’t go down that route… this guy has done nothing since his early time in Bmore and even there was under whelming … definitely not worth the 1yr 11m deal he got w/Chiefs today… he’ll be injured again most of the season

The entire point of having a very good backup is your season NOT necessarily being over if your starter goes down or misses significant time. If that weren't the case, teams would just carry an emergency QB.

I get what you are saying. But we are a pretty good ways away from being that kind of team. Hell our roster is basically empty at this point. JD will carry this team on his back again next year. It is what it is.

Edit: And I dont want to take away from what Mariota did last year. He was impressive when he played. And he may be looking for a starting gig at this point too. Cant blame him for that.

I would be down with that. I just dont really want to spend a whole lot of money on a backup QB at this point. It made sense last year with JD being a rookie. But if JD goes down for any extended period of time our season would be over anyways. No reason to spend money on a backup.

I dunno man, I feel like a backup QB could really save our bacon if JD were to miss part of the season.

What about a guy like Garner Mineshew. Doubt he'll get a starting gig, but for a 4 game stretch, maybe he could pull off 2 wins.

Would happily resign Mariota, but he really seems like a west coaster at heart.

Mariota was great for Daniels, and. By all accounts it was a really close room.

Do I think it’s the end of the world if we don’t bring him back? No.

Would I prefer not to screw up the QB chemistry? Yes.

I think they should try and get him on a 3 year deal worth something like 20m, and then lower the year 1 cap number and spread the money around. He signed a fully guaranteed $6m one year contract last year. He’s 31, and that might take him to retirement, locks up the backup QB job for not a lot of money, and gives him one last good contract.

EDIT to add, if they keep the other two guys around from the QB room (Driskel and Hartman) I have no faith in either of them actually playing. Hartman has great hair but lacks arm talent. Driskel is, well, Driskel.

I don’t think that’s necessarily true. Let’s say we sign Ronnie Stanley, Charvarius Ward, Darius Slayton, and trade a second and a pick next year for Hendrickson.

Daniels
Stanley, Allegretti, biadasz, Coleman, Wylie
McLaurin, Deebo, Slayton
Robinson, Ekeler

Armstrong, Payne, Newton, Hendrickson
Luvu, Wagner
Ward, Sainristil, Lattimore
Chin, Martin

Plus a 1st and a 3rd as top 100 picks

I think that actually looks remarkably solid. I’m not saying it looks like the Eagles or Lions, but they also don’t have Daniels.

A 2nd gets you in the conversation; a 3rd or 4th next year gets you the player (TH). Just a guess on my part as other teams have better ammo (better draft picks) as how teams finished last year.

I’m going to keep saying I don’t think they’re going to push Coleman inside under any circumstance unless he fails at tackle. If they get a LT, they might flip him to the right side and slide Wiley inside to guard. But Coleman is playing tackle next year.

I’d love to see:
Stanley, draft pick, biadasz, Wylie, Coleman and then when Cosmi comes back, Wylie becomes the backup swing tackle/guard.

What I think is going to happen is
Coleman, draft pick, Biadasz, Allegretti, Wylie and then Allegretti flops out when Cosmi is back.

I’d be all in for Stanley.

On TE I’m reading the Raiders are open to trading Michael Mayer. Depending what the ask is I’d be very interested in that. I liked him a lot in College.
That makes absolutely no sense at all. Dude probably should, or definitely could have won ROTY over JD. He was incredible.

You are thinking of Brock Bowers.

They drafted Mayer very early 2nd round two years ago. Bowers is what makes Mayer possibly available.

Mayer is very much a Y TE. He’s an old school inline TE who blocks really well and is a good receiving option short and middle. He’s a big target in the red zone as well.

What was plan B again?
Coleman, draft pick, Biadasz, Allegretti, Wylie left to right until Cosmi is back.

Then Allegretti to backup.

I’ve been saying for a while I didn’t expect huge changes to the OL.

They’re going to sign guys, but I don’t think they’re signing a FA LT who can start because I think Stanley was the only one who fit that description.

Ughhhhh. OT’s never come available. We should load up on everything else in FA and move up for Simmons.

On ES mock draft I picked Alt over Nabors, then Worthy in the 2nd. OT is one of positions that is almost impossible to fix through FA, Unless there is a real disparity between the value of picks, I would pick OT. I hope Peters can also find a gem late.

Note: CB in FA too

With that in mind I would sign Sweat and Reddick in Free Agency, Reddick on an incentive laden one year deal. Sign Moore for depth in FA and be looking hard for an OT in the First or Second. As much as I like Hendrickson, I would pass on him

edit Moore SF-thanks for the heads up
