I know we've spent some time discussing the interior of the OL but in my opinion this is priority #1. I think it's clear that they have committed to Coleman at LT, ar the very least for next season. Cosmi will miss most if not all of next sseason, the LG is meh, the backup center was terrible and it's not like they've got mid-round OGs in the pipeline. IMO then need to acquire not one but 2 or 3 good interior OL if they want to improve.

I agree that they committed to Coleman at LT and we should be looking at 2 IOL, one being able to play C. One might be via a day 3 selection.

Are you looking at RT as being set with Wylie. If so I don't agree. I'd like to see us replace him at RT via FA or in the draft. He can compete inside and backup at RT.

I’m another one who thinks Slayton is underrated. Always seems to deliver when they give him a chance. Stretches the field and has shown to be durable. My only hesitation is they don’t seem to give him that chance as often as you would think. He always seems to be down in the pecking order behind some questionable guys, and that makes me wonder. You’d like to think we can do better, but if it means saving the money for a big splash at another position (ahem trenches), I’d be OK with signing Slayton.

There’s no chance I’m spending big on Josh Sweat. He had an advantageous postseason, good for him - but I don’t want to be the team that pays him top of market.

Why are we assuming the team is commited to Coleman at LT? I can see upgrading at LT if possible and moving him to guard.

Slayton is an intriguing player but I expect his market to surprise some folks. Where do we draw the line on a contract, considering we need to extend Terry and sign more receivers?

What I liked about this coaching staff is that they seemed to maximize potential. OZ was considered pretty much a bum with the Eagles. Here, he became a solid contributor. Same with Dyami. Dyami was a bust who couldn't find a route forest much less a route tree. Now, I don't know if it clicked for Dyami because it was his contract year, Kingsbury, Daniels (or more likely all of the above) but if Slayton has a higher bar to reach I think this coaching staff can help him get there.

I really thought I was in the minority on wanting to see Coleman grow at LT. Certainly, the media mostly talks about wanting to move him inside still or to the right. I hear that a lot on BGO, too. Me? I think that after having no offseason, coming off injuries, and never having really played left tackle (or ever playing the same position 2 years in a row. I think I read he hasn't been at the same position for consecutive years ever. Not even in high school.) I think he has shown enough that I'd love to see more. I want to give him a chance to grow into the position.

My biggest worry about this is that O Line is the one area where I think our coaching is o line or below average so I'm not sure how much help Coleman will get in figuring out what he doesn't know.

If it comes down to Slayton or resign Brown then I’m definitely in the Slayton fan club… in fact not even between the 2 I think Slayton is an under the radar type WR…. Dude has 259 career reps since being drafted in 2019 and over 3800 yds and 21 TD’s playing with the likes of Jones and Devito etc…and even Jake Fromm too….

I definitely think now that Higgins and Godwin appear to be going back to their respected teams that Slayton’s stock might go up for several teams… not saying he’s the 3rd best but definitely for the cost and what he brings I think Slayton garners some attention through FA.

Agreed.... they should be "committed" to Coleman at LT as long as no better option is readily available. I suspect much of this sentiment is due to the fact that people don't see an obvious upgrade at #29 or in FA. That said, if one comes along.... welcome to guard-dom Mr Coleman.

I wouldn't mind peeling away OG Bechton from Philly, get some meat in the middle who can push the D line backwards.

I'm not sure about Coleman. He had a 64.8 pass blocking grade from PFF, which isn't dreadful, but from watching him this season he seemed to give up a lot of pressures when he was up against good pass rushers, especially speed guys. That doesn't mean he can't improve, but I'd be surprised if they just assumed no upgrades there.

No I'm not set with Wylie at RT. But to me the more pressing need is 2 starting OG and a swing guy who can play center as you said. Not sure they want to keep switching out 3/5 of their OL every season.

Slayton with 4 seasons of 700 plus yards, really good YPR, sub 4.4 speed. Won the Giants Walter Payton award. And did it all with subpar O line and QB play. that's my guy at WR. Can play Z too which is perfect for this team.

Alaric Jackson feels perfect at OT. Young, Big dude. In his prime. Played great against the Eagles in the playoffs. I see the mention of character concerns. Is that purely about the 2 game suspension which he attributed to doing something selfish but never explained what it was? I know he was in Iowa's leadership group in college, judging by his posts he is a religious type. Am not saying I know anything about the personality. But on my initial dive he seemed OK -- but you got me.

I agree about Jackson being a good target, but I'd be pretty shocked if the Rams let him hit the FA market.

If we do manage to upgrade both guard spots*, perhaps Allegretti would serve as an upgrade over Deiter for the backup C job?
Personally, I’d like to land a guy in the mid rounds that’s a versatile G/C type.

*not an upgrade from Cosmi, to be clear, just a viable starter while he recovers. Wonder if Paul could be that guy… not that I’d bank on it - I’d want a healthy competition there at minimum.


Generally speaking, I think the minimum I’m looking for is one good upgrade for the oline, a guy or 2 added to the youth/development pipeline, and at least 1 quality guy to add to the IOL competition (ie improving our depth).
