Is he better than what we have is the question and the cost benefit analysis. We're gonna need some solid at best players on the o line.
This is an interesting question. The value of Allen is tied not only to what he costs relative to his performance, but his replacement cost.

I think Micah Parsons low-key wants out of Dallas. He's now witnessing two division opponents surpass his current team and realizes the circus in Dallas isn't ending anytime soon.

I'd much rather give up a haul to grab Parsons at age 25 than give up what is likely required to get Garrett who while he still has a couple great seasons ahead of him, isn't likely going to be a long term solution.

Oh yes, he definitely wants to play for DQ. Sadly though, Jerrah most likely wouldn’t trade him here.

The weird thing is, Luvu is such a locker room leader and a heart of the team that I'd hate to bench him in favor of Parsons and in the modern NFL I'm not sure how often you could have Luvu and Parsons on the field together... unless Luvu could play Mike. I guess we'd find a way to make it work because if you could get that kind of a talent you don't say no... but it's not as an easy choice as one might think.

Luvu has definitely in one season become core.

Send 'em both.

"Oh I'm Jalen Hurts, look at me, I'm moderately mobile and throw well in the playoffs and steal goal line TDs from my all-pro running back whoopdeedoo"
*Gets crushed into the 2nd dimension*

Let's see them push your tush when you're 2 nanometers thick.

I think after the Barkley debacle, teams are going to be extra-extra careful in letting their premier talent go to division rivals.
I kinda think it’s always been that way. Although I do think modern players in free agency are more likely to go to a division rival. Players tend to get along with players on other teams these days more so than in the past when there was true bitter hatred for a division rival. And the Giants case, once they decided they weren’t going to meet his demands he was a free agent, so they had no control over where he went. Obviously it turned out to be a disaster, but I don’t think teams should overpay more than they are comfortable just for fear of the player going to a division rival.

Overpay? No. Then live with the consequences of poor management.

The whole league has to live with some consequences at this point. The Eagles were already tough with some of the past guys, but you get a guy like Barkley who at this stage is one of the premier backs in the whole league. Yes, you do get a Super Bowl out of that. And no, you don't need Jalen Hurts for that. It's a classic 2000 Ravens situation, where Trent Dilfer can QB you to a Super Bowl. Dominant running and dominant D, the QB becomes an afterthought. I believe they could have won the SB with a Dilfer (although to be fair, I don't think they get by the Commanders with Dilfer - unless the zebras step in).

I think New York fell into the trap of groupthink. For 5-10 years, everyone has been devaluing running backs and saying they are replaceable. Even good ones. Even great ones. So, when the Giant's braintrust had to choose between Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley, they chose the QB. You always choose the QB. After all, the QB is the only position that matters, right?

So, they let Barkley go knowing they would lose some production, but not enough relative to the cap space gained. After all, they had their franchise QB. Better to build for him. Running backs were cheap, expendable, practically a dime a dozen even after inflation.

Circling back to us, this is why many of us believe that getting the Franchise QB is just the start. Daniels may be a force multiplier, but he still needs support. He needs a more reliable running game, he needs better protection, he needs a defense who can get the ball back into his hands. I think he also needs at least one more home run threat. Frankly, I'd love that to be at running back. I want our Derrick Henry or Saquon Barkley to go along with our amazing QB, but if that homerun hitter is a wide receiver that's okay, too. If our homerun hitter is a DE who changes games, that's fine too (though I'd still want one more offensive piece and, of course, line help.)

The eagles roster was so good I do wonder if the same thing would’ve happened if it would’ve been Derrick Henry or Josh Jacobs that they signed instead of Barkley.

Pretty sure we know the answer, yes. I think Saquon is probably better than those guys though, at this stage (not 100% sure though, haven't seen as much recently).

Agree with your point on the groupthink. I remember being over on ES and advocating for us signing Barkley. And I got shot down pretty hard. My theory was that having a high-end veteran playmaker to hand the ball off to would help protect our new franchise QB in his rookie year, and (because of said groupthink) running back contracts were bargain priced.

That was the dumbest groupthink in the history of groupthink because there was nothing pointing to Daniel Jones being a franchise QB. He was something crazy like 5-20 vs any team except Washington. Then Barkley was healthy for a year and they made the playoffs. Jones never looked like a Pro Bowler but they paid him anyway.

I think that's probably why Daboll didn't get fired because he probably didn't want to resign Jones over Barkley. It was too obvious who was the reason they won some games. Then 2023 happened, Jones was a scrub, then they let Barkley go anyway.

Dumb on top of dumb yet they didn't fire the GM. You gotta love it!

Davante Adams likely to be cut by the Jets, or he costs them $36?million. I’d pass. We don’t need to be pulling up the average age of our skill position players. Achilles, and Terry isn’t young.

Regarding:

Mostert: He is really fast and if you can scheme up room for him he get generate chunk plays. If you cannot generate space for him, he is meh. Our O-Line is fine, but not great in run blocking. He is an older RB. Doesn't seem like a great fit. Not interested.

Fuller: He is a smart corner who is best in off coverage. If we are looking to play more man, especially tight man, he is not a good fit. He is slow by corner standards and lacks size. He would be a nice depth piece though because he is a smart heady play. Fits in well with the culture here. Is much better than guys like St. Juste, Mike Davis, and Emmanuel Forbes. Interested but only if relatively cheap because you want him as like your 3rd outside corner, not a starter.

Devante Adams: He'd be a great two. Excellent at finding spots against zone. He is a little slow at this point in the career but still fantastic at the stem of the route and can generate separation there against good man defenders, but is not going to run away from anybody after creating the separation at the stem of the route and a fast corner may be able to close the separation Adams created if the QB is late with the ball. Excellent two at the right price because he can have success against both man and zone coverage. Interested, but only at reasonable price (e.g. Hopkins deal with the Titans a couple years ago adjusted for inflation)

Eh, if Davante Adams still has that "I gotta get the ball" attitude he's probably the wrong dude. He might show up thinking he's the No 1 when he's a 2 or 3.

He's probably worth 10Mil or so but we can probably get a similar dude for less than half that. And somebody is probably going to give him 18-20M.

Peters is smarter than that.

I get the impression Jaire Alexander might get cut, but I also read that he’s a lockerroom cancer…

I've had cancer for over 5 years.

If it's true then we definitely don't want that guy. Maybe they can schedule him for a CT Scan.
