I am undecided on this. The injury history bothers me and I wonder who else we could sign for 18 million a year at CB.

Until VERY recently, rookie TEs weren't expected to do anything. It has always been a position where you had to commit 2-3 years of development.

Giving up on Sinnott already would be silly.

I always viewed it as a 2025 and beyond trade. didn't expect us to go to the conference championship, so i'm coming from that perspective. I'm hoping an off-season and better chemistry with overall better defensive play will elevate him.

Dyami Brown is a 3/4, at best. In no way is he a #2 WR. I wouldn't mind him back as the #4, which would probably require getting Higgins/Godwin in FA + a draft pick in the first 4 rounds. Having Dyami and Noah fight for the #3/4 spots would be ok if Higgins/Godwin were signed.

Chinn is being overrated by some in the fanbase. His regular season PFF grades were slightly above avg (run grade was clearly above avg) but his postseason grades were terrible.

They can't just change a couple of guys and expect the DEF to be a ton better. Just think about how much worse this defense would have looked if the offense didn't have so many (maybe the most in the NFL) drives of 10+ plays and such a time of possession advantage in so many games. They were 3-5 when they lost the TOP and 9-0 when they won TOP. And they weren't winning the TOP because of 3 and outs by the DEF. It needs a lot of improvement if they want to seriously contend in the playoffs.

I'd consider all of these guys at the right price but I'm not sure I wouldn't replace any of them except Way and Mariota.

I don’t think Dyami is a true #2 outside receiver but I wouldn’t mind if he is the other starting outside receiver with the slot guy being #2 WR. The drop earlier in the playoffs and the fumble yesterday were frustrating but there is a lot there - deep ball ability + screens + blocking + YAC. I don’t think the over the middle ability he showed in the playoffs was a mirage.
 
My off-season plan would look very similar to last year's plan, with 1 or 2 larger FA additions at marquee positions (WR, CB, OT, DE)... Peters showed that he can knows how to find cost controlled vets to fill out the roster really well - lean into that strategy... especially now that we actually have a team that players want to come to!

Getting a YAC slot guy (Chris Godwin?) as our #2 would be fine by me :)

Yep. He has had his injury woes recently but Godwin was one of the best receivers in the NFC before he went down. He is another guy (with Ertz) who would give JD easy answers.

Adam Peters on Marshon Lattimore: He came into a tough situation. He was injured, rehabbing, trying to meet new teammates. We saw him get better, and were really excited for him to have an offseason with us

Just got an ESPN alert Ertz said he wasn’t retiring.

I have to assume they will bring him back on a 1 year deal.

They NEED to make it a package deal and sign his wife to be our next place kicker. Julie was a professional soccer player and I’m sure could make kicks from at least 40 yards. Bring her to camp.

After the Lions game, he spoke about how he hoped to play again with Daniels. I think he felt renewed and had a lot of fun this year.
 
We need to add some real quality around Jayden. I’d go hard after Tee Higgins and Trey Smith. They will be expensive (if they make it to free agency) but those two are probably the top guys in free agency.

Higgins would be great opposite Terry - give us the bigger body X type receiver and another good red zone target.

Smith is a quality guard and only 25. He would plug in for Cosmi who is likely to be not ready for the start of next season and can slide to LG when Cosmi is back.
 
We can't let the team's quicker than expected success distract from the fact that there is a lot of work to do on this roster. The NFCC (and AFCC game, tbh) showed me that there is still too much missing from this roster to expect JD5 to drag them into close wins moving forward. The margin for error for this team was very low this season and while I appreciate and am super proud of the efforts to get to the NFCC, success in the NFL is not always linear proposition. A good amount of this roster is not starting on other playoff teams, let alone the teams made it to the final four. I think the offense is a lot closer to being something special, but mostly because JD5 is already making the talent around him look better, but we really need an O-line and a couple more homerun hitters. The defense....needs a lot of work. I think Luvu is the closest we have to a true blue chip player, but we are lacking a game-wrecking pass rusher and absent Lattimore turning back into his former self, we also need a CB1 still.

I think the general consensus before the season started was the roster was still in a major transitional period, and then JD5 kept getting better and it seemed to soften that stance for a portion of the fanbase, but me personally, I still see the roster as a whole as middle of the pack at best. Get JD5 a few more dawgs, upgrade the O-line, and upgrade as much as the defense as possible, because this team is likely going to be getting to the playoffs a lot over the next decade and rosters like The Eagles/Bills/Ravens/Chiefs/49ers (they took a lot of injuries this season) are going to be the caliber of teams in our way from hoisting a few trophies.
 
The fine line Peters has to walk is to try and keep as much of the chemistry and veteran leadership on the roster together while still finding significant upgrades across the board.

The team had something very special from a chemistry perspective and that really helped them and made them mentally tough.

But they still need a ton of better talent.

They talk about about team building, not player picking.

They need to figure out how to do both add talent and team build. It’s going to be tough and probably going to look differently than we might think

A big, physical, utility player that helps make the offense more than the sum of its parts. If he is going to be in a more traditional role, maybe he becomes a rich man's John Bates. A John Bates that is a little bit more of a receiving option and has more positional versatility. We still need a guy with some twitch, hands, and route running chops to eventually replace Ertz. And Ertz's red zone and 3rd down production , especially in big moments, is just going to be extremely difficult to replace. I can see why Philly fans still love Ertz.

I don’t think good GMs take a guy like Sinnott to be a jackknife in Round 2.

In Round 2 you are looking for guys that project to be a full time starter at TE, a player that doesn’t take 2-3 years to develop.

Guys like that can be found later on.

BTW - Jusczyk was taken later in the FOURTH round, appropriate place for a contributor but not a high impact player.
