The Rookie
If we go hit, hit on picks 1 and 2 of this class it feels like that would be massive for us considering the trade investment of draft capital this year and next. Good to hear about positive early returns.

Hope springs eternal on the first day of practice! Let’s hope you’re right, I loved both of those picks as wellI think Amos and Lane are going to be home run picks for us.
Yeah, that'd be awesome, but I'm not holding my breath.I also want Bill to be wildly successful!

Hypothetically yes. I am for Sinnott. I think he'll be good eventually.Do you ever? 🤣🤣🤣
I hoped McCune would work out. 😞
Who knows?

Was listening to Logan Paulsen on Galdi and on another podcast. Speaking of Sinnott, he seems to think that one of their camp TEs, Cole Turner, Yankoff, Tyree Jackson has a shot to unseat Sinnott for the #3 TE.
Logan is always super polite and never comes off harsh when making a point. And I think he's a gem in general as to diving into this team. I don't always agree with him but I love his effort and how he explains the game. Anyway, he's opened my eyes some to the TE position. Him among others have explained about how sophisticated that spot is. More so, than the typical position. Basically, you are a hybrid O lineman who has to understand protections and also a WR who knows how to find that seam and defeat zone among other things in a nunanced way and your timing and precision in your route running is especially important as to building trust with a QB. Not that I had no conception of any of those points before but he really brings them home and explains it well.
Long story short, its not hard for me to piece together that he has concerns about Sinnott. Ditto the team considering how his playing time decreased as the season went on. And it seems to center on the mental part of the game for Sinnott. But as he's pointed out, it can still click for Sinnott or anyone for that matter -- it doesn't come overnight to every TE. Conversely, he's infatuated with Ertz. He's so good at finding the seam, selling his routes and seperating. Too bad we got Ertz at the end of his career but nontheless even at his age today, he's special.
I recall talking about Sinnott on ES. I liked him. Rated him a third rounder. And my main concern with him was he wasn't a hot seperator in college. During that same timeline, I mentioned that Brock Bowers was the best TE I ever watched. And I've watched a lot of college TEs over the years, its my favorite position to watch. The draft season before, I loved Laporta among others. But one thing Laporta and Bowers shared in college was they were very good seperators.
When Paulsen talks about how Ertz's seperation skills are almost art form, it brings home to me the importance of that skill. Seperating requires some savy smarts among other things. Not saying Sinnott isn't a smart dude. But I am saying that part of his game IMHO wasn't really that developed in college. But I liked Sinnott from this standpoint -- he was a physical player both as to being a blocker and as to YAC. But it sounds like to take that next level he has to refine his route running and take a major step up on that front.
Interesting about Tryee Jackson. He's bounced around the league in his QB to TE conversion. He's one heck of a beast as to being a physical speciman. It sounds like Logan has been impressed with what he's seen so far from him.
SIP, I you had to guess (and to help us fight off the slow part of the year) who would you think to be the frontrunner in that battle?
Latest Commander’s Log was good. Showed multiple times Peters turned down the temptation of the trade back to stick and pick a guy they had rated ahead of the pack.
Has our FO ditched the “Commander Tag” designation, or just stopped the social media team from letting us know who they are now? Part of me thinks they don’t want to advertise it like they did last year bc it puts the draft picks on different levels from each other. Creates false “calling card” type picks that have higher expectations from fans than they maybe should, etc. I could see Peters & Co. regretting being so open about the Commander Tag designation during their first draft last year. The “Commander Caucus” guys are still highlighted, Day 3 guys voted on by the scouts (Jaylin Lane was one)
I continue to appreciate how Josh Harris is around and observing his kingdom but does not take part other than to congratulate the staff and call the players.
I tend to agree, but I think the signs are there that the FO is not "sour" on them, but certainly open-minded on cutting them loose. I think the signs are there for both of them.It seems there is some disagreement about this, and I respect Paulson’s opinion, especially about TEs, but I would be very surprised if we cut Sinnott this year. I understand he was somewhat disappointing last year, but he was drafted high enough and has not been so bad that I wouldn’t expect to give him at least two years to develop.
Same goes for McCaffery actually. It’s weird to me the high expectations so many people have for rookies. Sometimes it takes a little time for young guys to figure it out. I say give them a chance.
What a huge delineator. Ron's big "gets" were generally the guys he liked as good guys. I think he was really hanging his hat on those guys while coach here. He did not seem to understand the importance of drive, and you had some interesting insight on his lack of prep - while I could guess that, I didn't see him actually say he knew stuff because of "hearing about it" - very telling line and certainly fits the results we saw on the field. He was truly in over his head here in so many ways.My point is diving into the personalities is big time important, clearly. And the personalities aren't just about do they have a good background and are nice guys (that seemed to be Ron's drill) but also do they have the drive to be great.
