They believe in their coaches. You can’t coach size or speed so they giving them that.

A slippery runner with explosive feet, Croskey-Merritt is capable of full-stride cuts without gearing down to toy with defenders. He runs with a “cut to daylight” mentality, which keeps his runs alive but also leads to wasted steps and extra hits. Overall, there is an unpredictability to his run style that keeps both defenders and his own coaches on the edge of their seat, but you’ll live with the volatility because of his electric plant and burst to naturally string moves together and create chunk plays. He projects as an offense’s change-of-pace weapon.
 
I like the draft class a whole lot, though I would have lost a lot of money if I had bet on what positions they'd draft, cause I'd put it all on them taking an edge.
 


AP told Jaylin Lane that he had the commander tag and was the top punt returner on their board. Wednesday sniffed around so many later round WR’s that had PR experience. This makes too much sense.

I watched as much as I can find of him. Wasn't easy. He didn't have that many clips so i had to sit threw some New Mexico games on rewatch.

But he was a superstar with them. Among other things, he has breakaway speed, he can take it to the house unlike some of the backs we got.

He took plenty of his runs in between the tackles so I think he fits the RO-RPO system.

He should overtake Robinson but will see.

We need to find a replacement for PK Gonzo. Fitzgerald signed with the Panthers.

Kicker Ryan Fitzgerald was near the top of that list. While he was not drafted on Saturday, he was rewarded for an incredibly strong finish to his FSU career on Saturday when he was picked up by the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent.
 
It's a small sample below from Croskey Merrit's one game this season but it gives you an idea.

One cut and go RB. I liked him before the draft and was pushing him a lot on the draft thread today starting in round 4 because of three reasons. 1. I knew the team was interested. Multiple meetings with him. 2. IMO he's an upgrade over what we have. 3. He's a below the radar type RB, and older, so he might fall where you get good value.

Only thing I didn't see much when I watched him was pass catching chops so don't know how good he is on that front. But as a whole, he's a do it all RB who IMO can be a bell cow. I see Brugler talks about him as a change of pace back. I disagree. Don't get me wrong, he might start out that way until he proves himself. But for me i see a change of pace back as a one dimensional type -- power guy purely, speed guy purely and sometimes players who struggle in pass protect. This dude IMO has enough power and speed. Good in pass protect too.

Some say he runs a bit reckless. Maybe. But I like that for the most part. To me its bringing violence to your runs and pushing for extra yards. His vision looks good IMO.

I compared him weeks ago to J. Hunter for whomever watched Hunter but with a bit more wiggle. He's one cut and go. He can get skinny in the hole. Breaks tackles in open field. Plays with his hair on fire. Good contact balance. Takes runs both inside and outside.

Had a weird journey. Losing out on eligability last year and had to sit out the season after playing one game. But still shined in that one game. Was the MVP of the Shrine Bowl. Great athleticism scores -- if i recall best vertical in this group. Yet oddly below the radar.

I am not saying this dude is a superstar but I think he ends up a good back and most importantly better than what we got.

I've already penciled him in as the eventually starter, if not day 1 starter, in my mind.

3.5 starters (counting jaylin lane as half as #4 receiver and PR) out of 5 draft picks. I love this draft class.
