Totally agree about timing. Just see it more as him thinking too much. Also don’t see the separation score align with what I’ve watched. I’d call him above average or a little better but 99th percentile, sorry don’t see it. I didn’t have any relevant dynasty picks this year so didn’t bother evaluating anyone until now. I’ve only spent like 20 minutes on him but that’s my take.

SIP was contrasting him with Dyami a sec ago and fully agree on that. Dyami was never a speedster and didn’t understand how that label was ever applied.

I see all the numbers and they say sick athlete. Watch a little tape and don’t see sick athlete until he decides to be one on a given play. He’s got the gear, just don’t see it as often as I’d like.

Likewise shocked by Martinez. He'd be my #1 guy at this point. Lol, Sheehan who loves him thought he might go in the 2nd round, kept talking about him. I gather he's dissapointed. But I like Martinez, physical back, steady, great stats, solid but the good version of solid.

Yeah, definitely one of the most underrated backs to me.

I think you hit the nail on the head though, if theres RBs were interested in its Jacory Croskey Merrit, ollie gordon, or maybe Tajh brooks

I'll rewatch him later tonight. I am fixated on RBs right now. :cool:

I used to run track a lifetime ago and not bad at judging speed when watching it.

I posted on and off here once in awhile about Lane over the last month or so. I watched a bunch of games of his and stumbled on him initially by accident because I was watching Tuten. But i was impressed by his explosion.

The stop and go, accelerate-decelerate stuff is common from the slot. You typically have traffic in the slot that you are weaving in and out from. Think of like Jamison Crowder in his heyday, more quick than fast but that's fine playing slot because it often involves quick cuts without per se long speed.

But the long speed was clearly there from what I recall. If you can do it on end arounds and kick offs than its evident. Running around traffic versus running past traffic are two entirely different things.

I know you say you get this. But still have questions. It's cool. I got to rewatch, but based on memory and he has stats on a number of metrics that backs my memory, I got zero concerns. I know he's electric with the ball in his hands.

The question to me is can he develop into a deep ball threat, too? That to me is more of a projection.

I do like a number of the other RBs like Martinez and Coroskey-Merritt. I just really like Tahj's style and for this team. We will see

That’s not what he said. He was speaking sarcastically AS the NFL in that moment and then discredited them with the “they don’t”.

Ok, that's a relief. But, really, Kiper shouldn't be criticizing NFL evaluations after some of his own...
 
It sure seems like DQ would like to get someone who can get after the passer still. Whether its from the S-LB Edge or End position, I'd think they come up with one

Tahj was the bigger grower for me. High character. Great pass protector. I like to call him sort of a poor man's Kaleb Johnson because for a big guy, he's not always hot at breaking through a stacked box, but once he accelerates through that first level he's hard to catch -- breaks tackles in open field.

I’m similar man, was a soccer striker so speed is my drug lol. It’s cool and friendly and not even sure we disagree. Just might be saying things differently.

He has the explosion. Seems like you’re saying he’s playing cat and mouse on routes and I’m saying he’s thinking too much and it’s a detriment. One way or the other, the gear is there, but one of those things equals great route runner and the other equals room for improvement. He’s an older, slower developing prospect though so generally not great if it’s the “improvement needed” side of things.
 
Looks like there may still be some running backs worth a look late. Sounds like some of you like Martinez and Neal. Any thoughts on Brashard Smith from SMU? Maybe we could use the speed.

I don’t think it is a need, but there seems to be some value picks to be had on the interior offensive line.

I would also like to pick a kicker if there is somebody we like.

I know we need pass rush help, not sure if there is anybody there to target, looks like the edge players have been picked over.

Whatever we do, I’m confident it will be a smart pick, every pick so far has been.
