To that end, I am gussing Ezeriuaku is gone. They spent some time with Landon Jackson, JT, Amos, and I believe Scourton. I wish we knew the full list of people who played Top Golf, I know Conerly was one of them.

If they go RBs, I love Skattebo but I think there is a shot hes there in the late 4th. I like but don't love Judkins.

For me if its RB, at 61, Kaleb Johnson, Giddens, Skattebo, Judkins in that order. But if mocks are correct, Judkins would be rated higher. I like Judkins but I wish he was more exposive. Skattebo isn't explosive but he's such a weapon in the passing game. Henderson I think would be gone.

I've got a different RB list than you. I'm also much higher on Neal than some of those you listed.
 
If AP can do his magic and turn our current picks into 3 or 4 picks in the 3rd and 4th rounds, he can bring in a solid DB, Edge, RB, WR or DT depending on what their strongest desires are

I do think its ironic in a good way that Conerly shut down A. Carter. It brought home a bit more when the Giants actually took A. Carter how nasty the D lines are in this division. Dallas doubles down on an O lineman with their pick, I gather with that in mind. Getting a dude who can actually deal with Carter is awesome. Heck our tackles couldn't handle Thibodeaux under Ron, now with Tunsell and Conerly that's all changed. Coleman I think can be an elite guard. If this all comes together, our O line would rival the Lions-Eagles as the best ones in the league.

Tristan Wirfs may be the sole reason the Redskins couldn't beat the Bucs in 2020. He dominated Chase Young, and to me, that could easily have been the difference in that game. I think the team needed to go BPA in this draft. They are saying that is what they did. Looking at a couple of sources, I thought the BPA was supposedly Campbell who the stupid Eagles got. I have a feeling Coleman may be moving inside; Coleman as a great guard with his draft position still makes great sense. Conerly probably needs to project as a good tackle (RT is fine) for this to make good sense. I feel Campbell is maybe clearly better otherwise, if anyone is saying Conerly is a guard. Not saying that is a bad thing, but from a pure BPA perspective, I don't think Conerly=Guard > Campbell=LB given the talent/positional value. I think they really could have used more strength/speed at LB too.

I am really happy to have the biggest value on the team, JD, protected better. I am just looking from a pure BPA lens first.
 
I was surprise and initially a bit disappointed when the pick was announced, really thought it would be Green. But it didn't take me long to appreciate the move. As I had posted last year's OL did not have one A player, it was a collection of B and C players. Jayden is the key to everything so it makes sense to give him the protection he needs, especially in this division.
 
Love the pick!! Really happy AP is prioritizing the O-line. There will be good Edge and CBs available when they pick in rd 2, though as has been mentioned there are still free agents available at those spots too so no need to force it.
 
Looking ahead I'd say that AP makes a trade whether it be tonight or tomorrow. I'd be a bit shocked if he didn't. Does he move our 2nd or 4th?

If I had to pick one thing I love about him is he's so good against the run, not just seeting the edge but cut and chase in pursuit.

In other words, he's an athletic version of setting the edge versus a big wall type dude. Sort of like a LB sideline to sideline which was the position he once played. The other like that IMO is Landon Jackson. Landon won't just hold the edge but also chase down RBs.

Post of the Week if not the Year.

We should all go back and watch what Philly did to Mahomes. We have to play that at least twice. I will sleep better knowing JD5 now has another layer of protection.

Most of us imagine ourselves as star QBs or WRs, but you don't get that without a premier O Line. Ask Joe Gibbs.

I agree that LB needs to be a priority - hoping Swesinger (sp?) is still there in the third round if we trade back, but there has to be a reason Campbell fell like he did. The guy was predicted to be a top 15 pick and he fell to the penultimate pick of the first round. I thought I heard that he injured BOTH shoulders toward the end of last year, so maybe the medicals scared a bunch of teams off. Having said that, the Eagles were able to resign Baun, so they have a placeholder there in case Campbell needs to continue his recovery. They're so stacked it's not even funny.
 
I don't see a general draft thread so I'd just like to post how happy I am that little Deion did not get drafted. Apparently his cocky attitude in interviews was not limited to the one with the Giants. From this article:

An anonymous NFL coach recently told the NFL Network that Sanders was "the worst formal interview I've ever been in in my life."

Another longtime AFC executive echoed that sentiment, telling the outlet, "It didn't go great in our interview. He wants to dictate what he's going to do and what's best for him. He makes you feel small."

Last year it really mattered who they met with a lot, especially the combine and that top golf visit. lol, I wish I knew all the players who were at that top golf event. Peters mentioned last night that there were three players they met with who came off like really special people who the staff loved, Conerly was one of them. I presume Booker was the other. Got no clue who the third would be. Conerly was a top golf guy.

So if the idea is take seriously the names mentioned and people they met with multiple times including the combine. Off the top of my head. Focusing purely on the 2nd round or trade down to the third types

Belton -- I'd assume they won't go O line again

Landon Jackson -- they spent some time with him

Treveyon Henderson -- they spent supposedly a lot of time with him but he's likely gone

Oladejo: a lot of time with him, too, am guessing he's on the board still when they pick but will see

JT -- I know they met him at the combine

Scourton -- I know they met him in some context, forgetting

Gillotte and David Walker -- top 30 visits

Green -- Keim said he knows they like the player and met him but cautioned if he falls its a red flag so he's not sure in that case whether the visits went well and or his stories check out. I got no idea but at this point, I assume he's off their board.

The Iowa WRs -- they had combine visits with them

CBs -- Amos, Porter (Porter is a recent mention), Riley (I think Riley goes lower but they spent a lot of time with him)

Tre Harris -- top 30 visit

Billy Bowman -- spent some time with him but feels early for him.

Carson Schwesigner -- a lot of late buzz about their interest in him including from both Schefter and Keim

Kaleb Johnson -- top 30 visit.

Skattebo -- Keim mentioned they met but didn't say when-where.

I see your point.

They may look at it like, even if he needs to recover, they have great coverage there given their depth, they get great mid/long-term value out of the BPA move even though the reason he dropped may have some validity. I followed also that KC's tackle had some injury issue which also caused him to drop. So, the Commanders went with someone they felt more assured of in terms of injury history which I can't argue against. I didn't know about Campbell's injury issues, thanks!
 
Love this pick. Adam going by his board and trusting the player evaluations. It's not like OT is not a position of need. Also, they can get about the same quality edge in the 2nd when they pick as they can now. The talent from 15 or 20 to the 60s is not a huge drop. They may even trade up if there is someone they really like. Let's say they could get Connerly and Ezeiruaku? After that, it would all be gravy.

I would have rather seen the Cowboys draft him, and then hire Deion be their HC. That would have been a :poop: show worth watching.

Went back and looked at some pre draft comments ref Conerly....ironically more than one comped him to Jeremy Tunsil.
