Getting your roster to a place where you can just take the best non-premium position players in the late 20’s is the privilege of talented winning teams, for sure. And off ball LB certainly falls into that category.

These picks don’t always work out though. People freaked about Queen going to Baltimore years ago, and he stunk out loud until they salvaged the situation by bringing in Roquan Smith (at great expense) to play next to him and reduce his responsibilities immensely. Just as an example.

I can’t remember the name but there was a hyped OG that fell to the Steelers in similar fashion years ago who busted hugely too.

We give these elite franchises the benefit of the doubt for good reason, but these “obvious” value picks don’t always work out for them, either.

Yeah its about time. Ron sent our O line into the abyss. We once had Trent, Scheriff, Moses. But the last time we had an O line with no weakness on paper was I think Gibbs 2.

What people miss sometimes is that often teams meet multiple times with guys they have questions about, too, in order to figure them out and finalize the grade. It follows then that sometimes what they figure out isn’t positive. Who knows though, like you said they may have loved both players but maybe they preferred the DB depth to OT in this draft. You just never know

Bengals took a DE so the chances they trade Hendrickson probably went up...
 
Just a thought. Maybe Cinn. gets desperate with Erickson- maybe a trade is brewing

I trust Keim. He actually took him in the ESPN draft show where each reporter took a player for the team they cover because he said he knows they have interest in him. But he said in his podcast while he knows for certain they like him, there are some players he feels they would take ahead of him but alas those players were taken ahead of his pick. He did mention their interest in Conerly, too

As far as his tackling, he was playing with a bad shoulder all season. He's a feisty player.

RB: Henderson/Judkins/Johnson
WR: Higgins/Harris/Burden (2nd is fine)/Noel/Bech/Royals
LB: Schwesinger
Edge: Green, Ezeiraku, Scourton, Burch, JTT, Oladejo, Jackson, Stewart, Princely
CB: Johnson, Revel, Amos, Morrison, Thomas, Porter
S: Emmanwori

26 guys at those 6 positions and only 29 picks until we pick again, with Shadeur, Shough, Milroe still around to go off the board. Some baller is gonna be there.

I do wonder if Burden, Greene, and Johnson are off their board, due to attitude, sexual assault concerns, and injuries respectively.
 
Don’t get me wrong, I believe Conerly will prove to be a good pick, especially after seeing that starting lineup up front compared to last year, but I have to say I would have also been happy with any of the next three players taken.
 
IMO, I think Coleman will play at RT with the rook at guard. Allowing the rook to go through his growing pains between a stud LT and great center. Coleman should have enough experience in the league now to mostly hold his own. My preferred line would be Tunsil/Connerly/Biadasz/Wylie/Coleman. Replace Wylie with Cosmi when he gets back. That seems to me the best possible option. Either way though, we have definitely improved the up front protection.

Looks like they see Conerly as the future LT.. you cant hate on a solid LT and a great Oline ( see Eagles) great Oline depth works out well for the team so i am good with this. This team goes as far as JD can take it... fck it! .. lets just outscore every other team :)

Absolutely. On so many levels it makes sense.

A. Protect your biggest asset
B. It actually helps your pass protect AND run game. Force multiplier
C. Puts Brandon Coleman in IMO a better situation to be very good
D. You need it in this division -- monster D lines
E. If the idea is to beat the Eagles to get to the big dance -- clearly they won the SB because they destoyed KC's O line. Lets not walk into the same issue
F. Outside of QBs, tackles are arguable the hardest position to find, good ones don't find their way to FA.
G. It's a premium position -- way better than a RB or S for example as far as the salary cap ramfications over the long term
