Yeah but you've got to have a guy there to pick. That's my concern. At best it's lateral, at worst it's a bust (75% of 3rd round picks are out of the league in like 2-3 years and never amount to anything), and even the best GMs need a player they like to get to them.

I don't know that there is anything to do about this concern. I just hope they can find somebody.

Hindsight being 20/20, we should have signed Barkley in the off-season. Would have been the best $12m Peter's could have spent.

Because that answer leads to what you do in the draft. If he's just lost it, then you have essentially 1 RB on the roster at the moment (Ekler) who just had 2 concussions. So you have to look at getting a guy, and if you're getting a guy, you want a better guy than Robinson.

If he hasn't lost it, then maybe you're looking for a complementary piece.

I personally think once a RB loses it, they rarely, if ever, get it back. He looks like he lost it. They need to replace him entirely. That might be unpopular. But it might be reality.

So, again, in this deep class, could we get an upgrade in the 3rd round? I don't watch college football and don't break down film, so honestly asking.

Yes and right now that person for me would be the Virgina Tech RB Bhayshul Tuten.

Good athlete does not always mean good football player but those scores do have weight with teams for sure friend.

I agree. It’s just our pattern. I think we met with most of our draft picks twice and we had the average RAS of any draft class last year.

If Renner were still there I'd likely put a tad more weight into it. He was their best analyst by a country mile IMO. Not that Trevor and company suck - just my personal opinion. I trust my eyes more than anything and it's served me well over the years doing this. Why I do it is another good question :) It seems to help my mind get calibrated for some darn reason.

Alright, as I see it and yeah this is not a very good class I am in agreement. If I had to grade it, I'd give this group a C+. There could be some hidden gems though.

Wonder if Grant is a dark horse pick at 29 if he falls that far. Stopping the Eagles is clearly a must. And having a rock nose type with some pass rushing juice wouldn't hurt on that front. We need DEs who can set the edge. But we also need IMO a monster DT, too who can stop the run.

Sawyer to me screams this FO's definition of a Commanders. Well rounded DE who can set the edge and is a big time culture guy type.

Tuten is fun and fast. One cut and gone. Didn't catch many balls last year but was a pass weapon before that. Needs to work on pass protect. Am surprised he doesn't get more hype.

Miller: Kenneth Grant, DT, Michigan. I know what you're thinking: Why is Miller picking a 342-pound defensive lineman? Because he's going to crush his workout. Grant has long been rumored to be one of Michigan's best overall athletes.

One scout told me last summer that he has been timed at 5.0 seconds in the 40-yard dash. Grant has also been noted as having a vertical jump near 30 inches. He might be one of the heaviest players at this combine, but his short-area burst is tremendous and should allow him to score quite high in the 10-yard split of the 40-yard dash and three-cone agility drills. And he should hit 30 reps or more in the bench press if he participates. Grant is a consensus Round 1 player who could go in the top 20.

...I expect Jack Sawyer (Ohio State) to put together a fantastic performance.

...Tuten might be the fastest running back in college football -- coaches say he has clocked 4.32 in the 40.

I think you have Lundt too low. His play strength is questionable but he is one of the best run blocking tackles in this draft. Kyle and Mike McDaniel would like him

lol typical CB move. Yeah, I could very well indeed have Lundt too low. I was expecting to see a stiff but he moves very well for a guy his size.
 
Does it look like the combine is different this year? Is every position group just measuring and doing every drill in one day now?
 
Landon Jackson, JT Tuimoloau, Jack Sawyer or maybe Scourton or Burch or Ivey. Feels like its going to be one of them with our late first but more likely late 2nd round or trade down candidate into the 2nd.

Dudes with the size to stop the run but some pass rushing skills.
