The 2025 Draft Thread

Can we draft a quality run-stuffer (inside) and an outside (DE/Edge) help in this draft between 2-4 Rds (assuming a trade here obviously)? What are your thoughts? Seems like a deep draft for both DT and DE.

Yeah definitely the challenge of course is we have multiple needs. If they can trade down and add a pick, I think its easier to address DT-DE-RB and I gather O line with those four picks. I am a BPA guy but I think good chance BPA and need coverge.

But yeah DT-DE-RB is so special in this draft, that I'd be surprised if they don't end up with one of each. Arguably RB and DT is easier to find later in this draft, than DE but I'd rather not wait.

As an example lets say they trade down and pull another third.

Maybe in round 2: Walter Sawyer or Ezeiruaki or Burch at DE. and then Collins or T. Williams or Norman Lott, on and on at DT. Then in round 3, at RB Sampson or Skattebo on and on. Then on the O line maybe A. Belton or Ratledge or Trapilo.

Yeah especially picking in the late first, I endorse trading down. Depth is really strong at DE, DT, RB and to some extent TE. Hoping maybe a team wants to trade up for Shough or Dart or maybe a surprise faller, etc.
What about a modest trade UP to grab an OL?

I’m not a guy who follows the players closely but I heard somewhere the OL depth thins out significantly, and if a guy or two happens to drop to the late teens, maybe it’s worth going up.

Like, we’re in no mans land at 29, either move up or down, but where we are doesn’t align with what we would ideally get from the draft.

My opinion would be that we have too many holes to sacrifice draft capital right now. Gotta hope GMAP has another belter of a draft, and finds some mid and/or late round gems.

IMO there isnt an obvious trade up candidate within range. Josh Simmons is coming off of a bad injury. K. Banks might still land at 29 albiet likely gone but he might be better at guard than tackle. I like but not love Conerly but he also might fall to 29.

My point is if its O line or bust you likely have someone who falls to 29. Not killer prospects but good, You got D. Jackson or Zabel likely falling to 29 both though they are guards arguably. Jackson might be fine at tackle.

If we are stuck on O line Id stick to 29. Its not like last year as for top level or depth at tackle.

If we trade down, it's a good scenario. May be, we can draft Sampson or Skattebo later in the draft (3rd?) and address OL and DL in the first 2, or we can adjust if there is a highly rated guy available when we make our first pick. But sounds like having 4 picks in first 3/4 rounds is important this year. How are people rating Skattebo in here? His rating is all over the place on draft websites and among experts, like Xavier Watts.

I'm not sure how deep I will dig this time. OT is a priority. Thus far I really like what I see from the LSU OL, especially Miles Frazier & Emery Jones not looked at Campbell yet. Slater Jackson Sacramento State could be a riser good value get type.

Also, I am sure we will be looking at weapons, whether in the first, or later on, and Savion Williams caught my eye. He's listed as 6'5" and 225, but I am not sure he's actually that tall. He's a freak athlete, something we don't have a lot of on offense.

"The 6-foot-5, 225-pound Williams has a 600 back squat, 355 bench press, 350 power clean and 22.5 miles per hour max speed with GPS tracking. A former high school quarterback, Williams can throw a football 80 yards."

I think there is a good chance Williams will be there in the late 2nd or 3rd. I'd view Savion potentially as being what Laviska Shenault should have been, but did not have the athleticism to be in the NFL. Savion isn't a refined route runner, and I'm not sure how quickly he'd be a down the field option. But, he plays QB. You can put him in in wildcat, you can use him as a utility player chewing up YAC on quick slants or WR screens. We'd still need an upgrade at outside WR across from Terry, but I really think we would benefit in this offense from having someone fast and physical, like a Deebo, that is a risk to turn short plays into explosive plays.

Savion Williams is one of my favorite players in the 3rd-4th range. He feels like a good fit in Kliffs system. Can be used all over the place at WR, even though he has limited exposure plus be that Deebo type everything guy including wildcat.

Get the odd feeling that the IOL prospects might be better than the OT prospects - but way too premature - just thinking aloud.

Another wrench into this discussion is what do we do if Egbuka, Burden or Loveland make it to #29?

That's a good problem to have. I'd be hard pressed to pass on any of the three...but I've always been an LBIII fan

The issue with Tyleik is he doesn’t create much pressure in the pass rush. I think that’s a must to play DT in this scheme. It’s a big reason I am interested in Jamaree Caldwell. He is one of the few NT prospects who shows pass rush juice

Logan Paulsen, knowing what we look for in a OL, seems to really like him. I wonder where he'd slot in if he didn't have only 1 season of Power 5 experience
He’s normally available in my mocks in the 6th or 7th rounds. I wonder if he will move up the boards a good bit after the combine. Another guy I see quite late is Logan Brown from Kentucky. He’s another one that seems to have all the prototypical traits. I don’t know much about him beyond reading some scouting reports. I wonder why both of these guys are not further up the board especially given the lack of OT depth in this draft. Is it because they are looked on as developmental projects?

Jamaree looks like a poor man's Tyleik. If Tyleik is continues to keep his weight down his athleticism and football growth potential is off the charts. Both need to work with good NFL coaching. Caldwell might make more sense as a later add. It will depend on the direction they decide to go to improve their run defense. If they wish for immediate impact in the middle, Tyleik is their man while they teach him more rush moves.

I am liking Caldwell too.

I watched him last year when I was looking at DT's and was impressed too.

Shemar Stewart is standing out to me too.
In a mock Logan Paulsen was doing thee wee a number of surprises. The biggest one was Stewart falling to 29. He was thrilled with that pick as he sees him loaded with potential and a good fit plus and incredible value at 29.

It will really be interesting to see who does to 29
