The 2025 Draft Thread

How far can you go into the 30's and still grab an immediate starter? The 6th or 7th Edge or DT in each respective class is probably there. The 6th Tackle probably gone by then.
This draft isn’t deep, from what I understand. There is little difference in talent from 20-40 or so, reportedly.

If we can get a comparably talented player, say Ersery, in the 2nd and pick up extra picks, it makes all the sense in the world

The draft is deep at some points especially RB and DT and arguably very special at both spots. I am not sold that our veteran DTs have it anymore. We definitely need a RB. Good depth at DE and TE but arguably not as deep at DT and RB.

WR, QB doesn't look sexy but some good players at WR. OT is just OK at best, ditto OG. So many OTs might be better guards and with that logic maybe the guard spot is good considering that context. Safety looks good. CB OK. IMO.

Wouldn’t that be the definition of deep?
Depends on that level of talent--if there are legitimate first rounders lasting to pick 40, that's deep. If people are being forced to reach for 2nd round talent at 25, that's not. From what I understand, it's more the latter.

Yeah, I don’t honestly know as I only minimally follow the pre-draft talk (unless Washington has the #2 pick in a deep QB draft) 😉 From what I have consistently seen so far is that this year’s draft is considered unusually deep, outside of QB, but not top heavy with premier talent.

If we stay put, I want one of Nolen, Grant, maybe Shemar Stewart (production is very, very worrisome).

It's weird, I am seeing wild variances on talent evaluation--top 10s some places are 2nd rounders others. Maybe it was like this last year and I just didn't pay attention since we all were so focused on Daniels vs. Maye.

Top 10 isn't as sexy as typical. QB is bad. WR is just so so at best albiet i like some of the prospects. OT -- most are really guards so meh. But the draft at defense is very good. DT might be the best I can ever recall. DE isn't top heavy but so many B plus type prospects. RB is the best that I can recall. TE is one of the better ones.

McShay ironically was just goofing on those in the national media who say its a bad draft class and suggesting the national media is underwhelmed because they don't have the typical QB-Wr star power.

I think from this team's standpoint the draft is almost perfect aside from O line. It's a great draft for D line and RB both major needs.

I read that there are only 10-15 first round graded players in the draft.

Well, that was according to the "experts" so you never know what AP thinks. If he trades down then we might know more.

Trade down makes sense and also trade for next year picks- We have an interesting balance now that we are potential Superbowl contenders now. I am more into signing Mack for a few years and get many draft picks for the future so that we have potential now but will have many players on rookie contracts when we resign Daniels.

top 50

I think this is a good CB class too. Not 2023 but good. I know they are coming off injures but kind of crazy to me Revel and BMo are seen as second rounders

If we trade back from 29 to, say 35, I think we are probably looking at a 4th. In this draft, I feel we can get a good TE, DT or RB prospect in the 4th. It’s going to be a tough call to make however.

I feel more open to trading out of the 2nd somewhere into the 3rd and getting a 5th that way
I am expecting a trade back with our first rounders if any decent offers are on the table. If not I am expecting them to shop the second rounders. AP will be looking for one more pick no later than round 4.

James Pearce supposedly has major character red flags
Pearce has incredible potential to become a superstar Edge. He is a player that should see great improvement as he gets stronger and learns more from an NFL staff along with experience. I have not read of red flags, do they have to do with him not putting forth effort to learn by chance?

Agree. Some of the top ones though banged up.

D line looks though insane.

For example if the idea is a big dude who can set the edge and have some pass rushing chops in the range of our pick and maybe in some cases the 2nd round, too:
Jack Sawyer. Nic Scourton, Landon Jackson, JT. Tuimoloau, Jordan Burch, Jared Ivey.

DTs late first through third. Maybe Kenneth Grant is still there in the first albiet probably not. TJ Sanders, T. Williams, D. Alexander, Norman-Lott, Alfred Collins, D.Harmon

On and on and on.

From what I've read, there was an incident in 2023 where he was arrested, but it was for speeding and not having a valid registration or something. It wasn't drugs. I don't think there's been anything outside of that incident, so I feel like the "major character concerns" thing may be a bit overblown.

Thank you.
I just found this:

From ESPN: Tennessee All-SEC defensive end James Pearce Jr. was arrested Monday during a traffic stop after disobeying orders from police, according to a Knoxville Police Department incident report.

Police said they clocked Pearce traveling 63 mph in a 35 mph zone and that his vehicle had an expired North Carolina temporary tag. Once Pearce was pulled over, police determined that he was driving on a suspended license out of North Carolina and said he failed to provide identification or proof of insurance.

According to the report, Pearce had to be told multiple times to turn off his vehicle and to step out of the vehicle. Police said they then explained to Pearce that his vehicle was being towed and asked if there was anything illegal inside or any personal property he needed. At that point, police said they instructed Pearce to stand at the front of the police car with assisting officers.

The officer said that as he went back to look in the front seat of Pearce's vehicle, Pearce began to walk back toward his vehicle and was detained by the assisting officers without incident. Pearce was then arrested and his vehicle impounded, the report said.

Pearce was transported to Knox County Detention Facility and charged with speeding, driving on a suspended license, failure to present insurance, registration not properly displayed and improper window tinting

Speeding is one thing, but 63 in a 35 is up there. I think we’ve had enough speed racers on this team for a while. Not very smart to be driving like that with expired tags too. Then he makes the situation much worse by getting himself arrested. No thanks.
