Tell the Truth Monday- Wildcard Round Edition

I don’t think the coaches are upset that Lattimore wants to compete as he usually does, despite being less than 100%.

In fact you would think we bought a pig in a poke if the guy just wanted to sit on bench and nurse his injury and didn’t show the fire.

Evans was less effective in the 2nd half because Wash switched D coverage and doubled him. I dont know what it is with Latimore but he definitely does not look like a player traded for two high mid picks. Reality is he is out of shape.. and probably not 100%
next year will be the true test.
Love the fight in this team though! they battle. love it!

Yes, Evans was less effective in the second half. I think what we learned last night is that Lattimore is not the same guy that would hold Evans to 3 for 44 like he used to. He may be able to hold McMillan or Shepherd to a quiet night. But he is not lockdown on the top guys like he used to be. I’m hoping it’s the injury and nothing more. But that’s where the coaches have to adjust and Lattimore needs to do his job. It looked like they did more of that in the 2nd half.

After quarterback and left tackle finding a cover corner is the most difficult position to nail down.

Peters IMO made the trade for Lattimore as much for the next 2-3 years as he did for 2024.

Remember it was a unique situation with the Saints firing Allen in mid season after NO coming out of the barn on fire the first 3-4 games.

Lattimore was one of Allen’s favorite players so it appears Loomis was willing to cut ties with a player that was probably not too happy with new regime coming in.

It was an unexpected move. Usually guys traded at deadline are guys like Mike Williams and Jonathan Mingo, guys that are down the depth chart and often viewed as complementary pieces.

I'm just stating there is a reason fans are disappointed and frustrated. Availability is factored in when evaluating a player as well. This is not what any of us was expecting when they traded for him, how can we count on him next season?
No player has an injury history until they do.

Some guys have hamstring issues. Lattimore doesn't appear to be one of those guys though. No history with it.

Has he missed time over the last 3 seasons? Yes. But some of that is just bad luck. In 2022, he missed most of the season with a lacerated kidney and in 2023 he missed 5 games with an ankle.

There is every chance he never has a hamstring issue again and you can't deny that this defense looks different with him on the field.

I can count on him just like I count on every other player on the roster.

I can only hope that Peters will go after Dre Greenlaw and Mooney Ward this offseason. Ward, Lattimore, and Sainristil covering slot would be a dynamite secondary.

Boone already covered the injury angle. It’s possible Lattimore is playing at 70, 80,90% and that may explain why he’s struggling a bit. There’s also another reason… Rust.

I watched the Eagles game and Hurts was awful. The announcers bent over backwards to say losing three weeks of practice and game play takes a toll. We’ve seen it ourselves when the team comes out flat after a bye.

If it can be true for a QB and true of an entire team then it can be true of Lattimore.

He’s missed so many practices and games that should anyone be surprised if he’s not sharp? Hopefully, we’ll see a better version of him next week.

Hamstrings are tricky and have a mind of their own.

I'll be 52 next month, have a pretty intense workout schedule, lift five days a week and at least walk five days a week. Stretched my right hammy a litttttttle too far doing RDL's and immediately caught myself, stopped and waited for the pain.

It never came.

Next time my leg rotation came up, that hammy said "Nope... not today, bruh" and continued that for like a month. I could do hyperextensions fine and get a bit of a stretch there if I focused on it. I could do leg curls and be fine as long as I kept the weight down and the reps up. A month later, the pain all went away.

Then it snuck up again and said "Yo."

Keep in mind I don't feel it at all daily, I'm not an athlete and I don't have access to the resources they do... and I'm in my 50's LOL!!! I'd give Lattimore a break. Hammies can be tedious to heal and unpredictable. My guess is he's doing what he can, but really needs the offseason to be 100%.
I was playing a ton of soccer games several years back (early 40’s), running like the energizer bunny - over 8km some games. Zero health issues until one day I pulled my hammy picking up my dog’s food bowl. You just never know.

Pulled mine bowling 🤣
Forgot to stretch first

Everyone got their butterfly on? I'm still wearing my Billy Band Aid from 1976... so yeah I am all in. HR is growing concerned and wants a meeting this afternoon. Cops just got here.

Fun Fact - Furnace Face was his nickname

For various or whatever reason, our offensive line has lost the ability to run-block on any kind of consistent basis.

This is really puzzling and we can't blame injuries. They were a very solid group until about 6 games ago. I think some of it is Robinson, he has to be replaced IMO because he is just not right. But there are few runnng lanes today and of course the protection has gone from really good to concerning.

Yeah, it's either someone figured out how to beat this line and everyone is copying it or the group just fell apart due to injuries or something else.

Benching Robinson for Rodriguez is not going to produce better results. The simple truth is the offensive line has been banged up and we are not moving people off the ball like we were earlier in the season.

That's not to say this offensive line has the capability to dominate DLs in the playoffs.

But to my eye you would have to have a running back like Jahmyr Gibbs or Barkley to run behind this group RIGHT NOW and be productive as these backs can take the slightest crease and use their quickness to be at the second level.

Rodriguez and McNichols are not faster or quicker backs than Robinson. Ekeler 3 or 4 years ago could have done it.

But at 29 he's no longer a full-time rusher.
