Arguably the opposite of Jayden, in terms of on-field demeanor:

If Caleb can’t get it together with Ben Johnson as his OC, he’s never going to be able to.

My former boss is a Bears fan and I was trolling him on that second to final drive with his miss to Moore for a TD, the hospital ball a couple plays later, etc

Crucial season for him but, as of now, I’m taking all the other first round QBs from last year’s draft over him. Maybe even Rattler passes him by the end of the year

He definitely has a killer instinct. Go back and watch all the 4th quarters last year. I think the "being friendly with the opponent" strategy helps him avoid huge hits from defenders. I think it was last season where Jalen Carter picked him up and just put him down slowly vs slam him
There was a social media video doing the rounds yesterday with an interview with one of the Giants players talking about how Jayden kinda gets in your head with his friendly chatter. He said something along the lines of "He makes you feel like he's your friend on the field."
I think it's mostly the fact that Jayden just LOVES to play the game. Football is life to him and he enjoys it. I think he's also realised that a side effect of his friendly demeanour means that subconsciously the defense will give him breaks that they wouldn't afford a more confrontational QB. I can't imagine the Eagles defense was predisposed to Prescott after the spitting incident. There's a difference between playing to put an opposing QB on the ground, and playing to put that QB into the ground with prejudice.

It was Brian Burns... I can't get a video link, but here's a piccy...

I was thinking that as I watched the game last night. CW has the physical tools, but the personalities and demeanor is just so different than JD5.

I don't know CW. I don't know what is in his head and heart, but through the tv screen it feels like in some instances he doesn't even want to be there but he is because it is his job.

JD5 is playing with joy and intensity like he is whooping up on his friends during some backyard football. Having a blast, but wanting to beat them at the same time.

Hi all. Great win!! Here are my observations from the game…

1. The percentage of Giants fans in the crowd was significantly less than previous years.

2. Jayden looks even more relaxed out there, if that was even possible. He is truly a unicorn, which is not exactly breaking news to any of you.

3. The revamped D line looks really good rushing the passer and against the run.

4. The biggest difference from last year‘s games is we actually have corners who can at least stay in the same ZIP Code with Malik Nabers.

5. Lattimore took his typical bonehead personal foul, but otherwise I thought he was very solid. Here’s hoping he can keep it up against better competition.

6. Right now he is still just a Bill… But soon he will be a law 😁

7. Yes there are nits to pick with the game (ahem penalties), but the bottom line is we easily kicked the crap out of a division rival on opening day. The arrow continues to point up.

8. And a little self reflection ala tell the truth Monday… I need to do a better job of pacing myself drinking wise!

Their receivers will get sharper over time, skys the limit on offense.

The offense was on their C game.

Defense on their A game.

Pass rush was as good as I expected, run game too. Their run stopping was much better than I expected. One heck of a test coming up in 2 days.

Interesting. On the Deep overthrow to Terry… I thought I saw Terry hesitate and then speed back up. Did anyone else notice that? I might’ve been seeing things, as I mentioned in my last post I was a bit overserved on Sunday. 😁😁

, I think you’re just objectively wrong (while still being free to feel that way).
I would like to add one more thing then ill drop it.
I dont believe im objectively wrong, this to me is an opinion based debate and if matt gay were to shank a 40 yard game winning field goal and was all smiles and giggles immediately after i dont believe anybody would be of the opinion that they like his swagger and confidence.
Thats where the saint jayden comment came from and as you know im a huge fan of jayden.

On SmileGate- at least JD is smiling when we're winning. It's not like we were losing and he's coming off like it doesn't matter to him. :D

Im sure this is sarcasm but this is way beyond my original intention of arguing the other side of that debate.
I NEVER intended for it to be anything more than a mild observation but of course this is the internet and everything gets blown way out of proportion.

I only watched the first half and thought he looked pretty good.

Did he come apart in the second half?

I still think Ben Johnson is overrated and thrilled he landed in Chicago instead of Washington. At the same time he became Detroit's OC they made a number of other changes including bringing in Goff and QB coach Mark Brunell

I never bought into Caleb, wanting Daniels or Maye over him. Thank goodness things fell the way they did!

Well yes, it goes without saying that only a stud who carries the team most of the time can pull off this demeanor. Which makes sense, because no one takes their cues from a loser. His calm, casual demeanor matters and works because he’s a killer. If he throws 20 INT and sucks, he won’t be. The body of work and performance dictates that sort of attitude fitting and working. I think that goes without saying. Nobody would care if Josh Johnson is a natural leader who calms everyone around him, because he sucks and he’s sucked for 17 years.

But the same goes for Brady and Manning. They couldn’t have held people accountable and demanded perfection of their teammates if their play didn’t back it up. Different things work for different leaders, but none of it works for anyone who isn’t elite, long term. Players follow winners, the winners all just lead differently

His mechanics are a disaster, I’m not sure he’s going to make it. He made a few mis-throws in clean pockets to open receivers where his mechanics looked like Josh Allen at Wyoming, one leg in the air and shoulders not square and release point low. Incompletions. Really scary from a macro standpoint if he’s still struggling with those physical basics as a passer, not even getting into his work habits or ability to play the mental game
