I don't blame Chris for locking this thread.

I know we have a ton of new folks here - and we don't do a lot of 'moderating' here. But there seems to be a tendency to treat every thread like it is an open chatroom where any topic that pops into one's head is fine. That's not really how we do it here. Folks click into threads to read/comment about specific topics. It becomes pointless if/when half the threads are just meandering stream of thought multii-topic messes.

We all need to do better, including staff and owners and remind each other when threads take off in random directions, or get hijacked with topics that are not related to the stated topic.
