My how the narrative has changed. Leading up to the game, many were chomping their fingernails, worried about this preseason powerhouse Giants, who had retooled their roster, and were ready to punch us in the mouth. Today, it’s, “We don’t really know how good we are, because the Giants suck!” Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the NFL.
The Commies did what good teams do yesterday, they smashed an inferior opponent with their C+ game.
I thought we had a solid offseason, and upgraded parts of our roster, but still had questions about if we still had the teeth to be an upper echelon NFL team. Yesterday allayed most of those concerns for me. This team is good, real good.
This defense looks dramatically improved from last year. Kinlaw set the tone on their first play, wrecking the Giants line, and stuffing Tracy. Payne, and Armstrong were both massive, and gave the Giants nothing. First and goal for the Giants from just outside the one, and hold them to a FG. The guys up front dominated the Giants line, Wagner was bouncing and tackling, and the secondary looks light years better than last year. If the D continues to play like this, we are in for some fun!
Offense not nearly as good as the defense, but it didn’t matter, because even a JD not being sharp is still better than most QBs in the league. Running game looked good, and if Ekeler and JCM stay healthy, they should be a handful for most league defenses.
Also, that Debo cat is pretty darn good.
My big takeaway from yesterday was, if you can manhandle any other NFL team with your C game, you’ve got the chance to be a really good team.
