This post is a great example of what I am talking about. The first two sentences.
You are using something you believe to be true as evidence of fact. However, your belief doesn't make it evidence at all. It is still just your opinion. Then you double down with the use of the word "obvious" in the second sentence. That implies again that your belief is fact and is designed to silently call Henry an idiot if he doesn't believe the same thing you do.
Then you attack Henry's statement about INTs claiming he threw very few of those in games the team won. No offense, but it something of accepted wisdom in the NFL that if you don't turn the ball over you are more likely to win.
As I explained in my previous post to Henry, Heinicke threw the majority of his INTs in games that Washington was not going to win anyway -- against Dallas (twice), San Diego, Buffalo, and Kansas City. The Washington defense was horrible in all of those games. Washington was not going to win any of those games, anyway. Heinicke tried to do too much in those games, because he knew they weren't going to win without heroics on offense.
The only game that Heinicke threw an INT that actually mattered was against the Saints. Washington had a chance to win that game if Heinicke played a little better.
His INTs against Denver and Green Bay were on Hail Mary passes or in garbage time in the 4th quarter when the game was already over (against Green Bay). Again, not all INTs are equal. It matters if the games are actually winnable. I don't care if a QB throws 10 INTs in garbage time....the game is already over.
Then you go on to say that most of Heinicke's INTs were in blowout losses without really getting into specifics which leads me to believe that you are talking off the top of your head rather than through research. So I did some research. Heinicke had 15 INTs last year. 7 of the 15 came in games the team lost by 7 points or less so as close to a 50/50 split as you can get with an odd number. Hardly "most", but you used that word anyway to make your argument. You also made it without really paying attention to when the INTs happened in the game. For example, the first one against Buffalo happen in the 2nd quarter when Washington was only down 2 scores and the first two against Dallas happened in the first quarter, one at 0-0 on the first play of the game. Both those INTs directly lead to scores.
All you have to do is ask me to elaborate. And I just did.
There is no way that Washington was going to win that game against Buffalo. That is just dreaming. Washington's defense was already getting crushed in the 2nd quarter.
Washington lost to Dallas 56 - 14. Dallas scored 35 points on their first 5 offensive drives!! There is no way in hell that ANYTHING that Heinicke did was going to matter.
And those are just the first two games I looked at. Took me 3 minutes.
Washington lost the first game to Dallas by 7, but that game was not close. That was the game that Prescott threw that stupid pick 6 INT late in the 4th quarter. That score is very misleading.
Same with the San Diego game. The Chargers dominated that game. The score is very misleading. I remember that Herbert got completely screwed when the referees called a touchback on a "fumble" out of the Washington end zone. It was not a fumble. It was obviously an incomplete pass. That cost the Chargers at least 3 points, probably 7 points.
So you spent 3 minutes analyzing this, but you don't have the details that I have.
If you had done your homework you would have known these things. If you had been paying attention to what happens on this board you would have known that many of us will go look these things up.
I didn't believe you so I did do my own research.
I did do my homework. And I just explained why I think you're wrong.
I don't think you did enough research.
