Taylor Heinicke Discussion

If Blewitt had not had two FGs BLOCKED during that Denver game, then Heinicke would not have had to play "hero ball" at the end of the game. That loss cannot be pinned on Heinicke. That was Rivera's stupidity, cutting Hopkins before the game.

And if Wentz was QB in that game, Washington would have punted 10 times and lost by at least 14 points. So I completely disagree it's the play-calling.

5 drives inside the opposing 30 against GB - 1 missed FG

4 drives inside the opposing 30 against Den - 2 missed FG

ZERO POINTS

9 drives.. Not 1, not 2, not 3, 6.... 6 other drives without points. Yes, the playcalling changed because of the misses, but we still went 0 for on the others. That's an OFFENSIVE problem. That's a failure on the staff as well as the players on the field.

If you want to think that, I don't care.

I firmly believe that Heinicke is the best QB this team has had since Joe Theismann. I just do not want to see the washed-up Wentz on the field. I've seen enough to know that he will never be a starting QB again after this season.

wait.. you do realize that there are 2 starting QBs that have some pretty heavy hardware that will take this argument and tell you to shove it...

OK, but I feel like you're just too focused on this.

My point is that we would not have had "5 drives inside the 30 yard line against GB" if Wentz had been the QB. Maybe 2 or 3 drives, if we're lucky. We would not have even been in a position to keep either game competitive if Wentz had been QB.

That's the much bigger issue in my opinion.

The Washington defense last year was either the first or second worst that I've seen in the past 40 years. The only other challenger might have been that horrible 2013 defense.

Neither Williams nor Rypien would have hardware playing on the 2021 WFT. And Heinicke would have had more than 7 wins if the defense had not been so inept last year.

and the result would have been what? 0 points!

fuck competitive, i want to win. I don't give a damn who is under center. I want to be able to be an explosive offense, and I want an OC that doesn't have his head so far up his ass he can't see it. YES, this offense CAN be successful with Heinicke, but Turner is too stupid to get it done. We've seen a Scott Turner offense with Taylor Heinicke and we were bottom 5 in the league in scoring. We've now seen a Scott Turner offense with Wentz and we're averaging 2 less PPG. The offense he runs doesn't score points. It's been bottom 5 EVERY YEAR he's been an OC. It was that way in Carolina and it's that way here.

Here's my hope. My hope is that this inept offense can be overcome because Wentz CAN hit the 60 yard throw. My hope is that these weapons can catch a screen and to 80 because they're TALENTED... not because Turner designed it that way. My distaste is not pointed at Heinicke, it's pointed at Turner. Like I said before, Mahomes might be the only QB that can be successful in this offense because he's freakin houdini.

We averaged 19 points per game.

NOBODY would have had hardware in our offense last year.

We can't win if we're not competitive. And 3 games this year were over before they even began this year with Wentz as QB.

Your hopes haven't panned out so far and I don't think they will. No QB can win just throwing the ball deep all of the time. Wentz is not good enough to make teams pay a price on his mid-range throws because his accuracy is among the worst in the league.

Wentz single-handedly killed several drives against Chicago because he made several poor throws on first and second down or he made a bad decision, which put the offense in a hole. And he is not good enough to overcome those mistakes, unlike Heinicke.

He blew with by Neos post, but nobody should be shocked.

HES THROWING DEEP BECAUSE HE'S GIVEN THE PLAY CALL!!!!

TURNER HAS SAID HE CANNOT AUDIBLE. What about that don't you understand? He's playing within the playbook that he's paid to play in.

Yet you call him the best we've had since Theismann.

Theismann To HOF,

You have not been here long enough to know any of us well enough to say the things to and about us that you have. Period. I have never been around a more thoughtful, less biased group of amateur students of the game than the guys on this board. We have been patient. We have laid out facts to support our positions. In return, we have got beaten about the head and shoulders with your option in the most insulting way.

And I'm nearly done with the snide crap on your part.

At this point, we all get your agenda and your bias against Wentz and in favor of Heinicke. You have driven it home with the relentlessness and diplomacy of a Jr lockerroom bully.

This is the last time I will tell you to change your tone.

We love the debate but when I dread coming to my own home on the interwebz because there is a guy in my living room calling me an idiot, even obliquely, it's time for a change.

Do you understand what I am saying?

I'm not being disrespectful. I'm explaining why Turner is not the problem.

You're still not understanding what I'm saying -- Wentz is killing drives all by himself, due to the poor decisions and poor passes that he makes on first and second down. He cannot succeed in 3rd and long situations. He has a very small margin of error, because he isn't very good.

You're not understanding what I'm saying, and frankly at this point I dont know why i'm wasting my own time acting like you ever will but...... HE IS PLAYING THE PLAY CALL HE IS GIVEN. Turner does not allow Wentz to change the play, therefore HE IS RUNNING THE PLAY THAT IS CALLED IN.

You think Wentz can't hit the intermediate, yet Turner keeps asking him to do so.

Heinicke can't hit the deep ball, but he kept asking Heinicke to do it.

He ran F*CKING READ OPTION with Alex SMITH after his leg got turned into ground beef.
